+    <heading>A Vision of a Horseman</heading>

+    <verse num="7">On the twenty-fourth day of the eleventh month, which is the month of Shebat, in the second year of Darius, the word of the <span class="divine-name">Lord</span> came to the prophet <crossref let="b" cid="c38001007.1"/>Zechariah, the son of <crossref let="c" cid="c38001007.2"/>Berechiah, son of <crossref let="d" cid="c38001007.3"/>Iddo, saying,</verse>

+    <verse num="14">So <crossref let="s" cid="c38001014.1"/>the angel who talked with me said to me, <q class="begin-single" qid="38001014.1" from="38001014.1" to="38001017.1"/>Cry out, Thus says the <span class="divine-name">Lord</span> of hosts: <crossref let="a" cid="c38001014.2"/>I am exceedingly jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion.</verse>

+    <heading>A Vision of Horns and Craftsmen</heading>

+    <verse num="18"><note nid="n38001018.1"/> And I lifted my eyes and saw, and behold, <crossref let="l" cid="c38001018.1"/>four horns!</verse>

+    <verse num="19">And I said to <crossref let="s" cid="c38001019.1"/>the angel who talked with me, <q class="begin-double" qid="38001019.1" from="38001019.1" to="38001019.2"/>What are these?<q class="end-double" qid="38001019.2" from="38001019.1" to="38001019.2"/> And he said to me, <crossref let="l" cid="c38001019.2"/><q class="begin-double" qid="38001019.3" from="38001019.3" to="38001019.4"/>These are the horns that have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.<q class="end-double" qid="38001019.4" from="38001019.3" to="38001019.4"/></verse>

+    <verse num="20">Then the <span class="divine-name">Lord</span> showed me four craftsmen.</verse>

+    <verse num="21">And I said, <q class="begin-double" qid="38001021.1" from="38001021.1" to="38001021.2"/>What are these coming to do?<q class="end-double" qid="38001021.2" from="38001021.1" to="38001021.2"/> He said, <crossref let="l" cid="c38001021.1"/><q class="begin-double" qid="38001021.3" from="38001021.3" to="38001021.4"/>These are the horns that scattered Judah, so that no one raised his head. And these have come <crossref let="m" cid="c38001021.2"/>to terrify them, to cast down the horns of the nations <crossref let="n" cid="c38001021.3"/>who lifted up their horns against the land of Judah to scatter it.<q class="end-double" qid="38001021.4" from="38001021.3" to="38001021.4"/></verse>

+    <heading>A Vision of a Man with a Measuring Line</heading>

+    <verse num="1"><note nid="n38002001.1"/> And I lifted my eyes and saw, and behold, <crossref let="o" cid="c38002001.1"/>a man with a measuring line in his hand!</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v38002002"/>
+    <verse num="2">Then I said, <q class="begin-double" qid="38002002.1" from="38002002.1" to="38002002.2"/>Where are you going?<q class="end-double" qid="38002002.2" from="38002002.1" to="38002002.2"/> And he said to me, <crossref let="p" cid="c38002002.1"/><q class="begin-double" qid="38002002.3" from="38002002.3" to="38002002.4"/>To measure Jerusalem, to see what is its width and what is its length.<q class="end-double" qid="38002002.4" from="38002002.3" to="38002002.4"/></verse>

+    <verse num="3">And behold, <crossref let="q" cid="c38002003.1"/>the angel who talked with me came forward, and another angel came forward to meet him</verse>

+    <verse num="4">and said to him, <q class="begin-double" qid="38002004.1" from="38002004.1" to="38002005.2"/>Run, say to that young man, <crossref let="r" cid="c38002004.1"/><q class="begin-single" qid="38002004.2" from="38002004.2" to="38002005.1"/>Jerusalem shall be inhabited <crossref let="s" cid="c38002004.2"/>as villages without walls, because of <crossref let="t" cid="c38002004.3"/>the multitude of people and livestock in it.</verse>

For I have <crossref let="w" cid="c38002006.2"/>spread you abroad as the four winds of the heavens, declares the <span class="divine-name">Lord</span>.</verse>

+    <verse num="7"><crossref let="x" cid="c38002007.1"/>Up! Escape to Zion, you who dwell with the daughter of Babylon.</verse>

+    <verse num="8">For thus said the <span class="divine-name">Lord</span> of hosts, after his glory sent me<note nid="n38002008.1"/> to the nations who plundered you, <crossref let="y" cid="c38002008.1"/>for he who touches you touches <crossref let="z" cid="c38002008.2"/>the apple of his eye:</verse>

+    <heading>A Vision of Joshua the High Priest</heading>

+    <verse num="1">Then he showed me <crossref let="j" cid="c38003001.1"/>Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the <span class="divine-name">Lord</span>, and <crossref let="k" cid="c38003001.2"/>Satan<note nid="n38003001.1"/> standing at his right hand to accuse him.</verse>

+    <verse num="2">And the <span class="divine-name">Lord</span> said to Satan, <crossref let="l" cid="c38003002.1"/><q class="begin-double" qid="38003002.1" from="38003002.1" to="38003002.2"/>The <span class="divine-name">Lord</span> rebuke you, O Satan! The <span class="divine-name">Lord</span> who has <crossref let="m" cid="c38003002.2"/>chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! And the angel of the <span class="divine-name">Lord</span> was standing by.</verse>

+    <heading>A Vision of a Golden Lampstand</heading>

+    <verse num="1">And <crossref let="f" cid="c38004001.1"/>the angel who talked with me came again <crossref let="g" cid="c38004001.2"/>and woke me, like a man who is awakened out of his sleep.</verse>

+    <verse num="2">And he said to me, <q class="begin-double" qid="38004002.1" from="38004002.1" to="38004002.2"/>What do you see?<q class="end-double" qid="38004002.2" from="38004002.1" to="38004002.2"/> I said, <q class="begin-double" qid="38004002.3" from="38004002.3" to="38004003.1"/>I see, and behold, <crossref let="h" cid="c38004002.1"/>a lampstand all of gold, with a bowl on the top of it, and <crossref let="i" cid="c38004002.2"/>seven lamps on it, with seven lips on each of the lamps that are on the top of it.</verse>

+    <heading>A Vision of Four Chariots</heading>

+    <verse num="1">Again I lifted my eyes and saw, and behold, four chariots came out from between two mountains. And the mountains were mountains of <crossref let="m" cid="c38006001.1"/>bronze.</verse>

+    <verse num="2">The first chariot had <crossref let="n" cid="c38006002.1"/>red horses, the second <crossref let="o" cid="c38006002.2"/>black horses,</verse>

+    <verse num="3">the third <crossref let="p" cid="c38006003.1"/>white horses, and the fourth chariot dappled horses&emdash;all of them strong.<note nid="n38006003.1"/></verse>

+    <verse num="4">Then I answered and said to <crossref let="q" cid="c38006004.1"/>the angel who talked with me, <q class="begin-double" qid="38006004.1" from="38006004.1" to="38006004.2"/>What are these, my lord?<q class="end-double" qid="38006004.2" from="38006004.1" to="38006004.2"/></verse>

+    <heading>The Crown and the Temple</heading>

+    <verse num="11">Take from them silver and gold, and make a crown, <crossref let="a" cid="c38006011.1"/>and set it on the head of <crossref let="b" cid="c38006011.2"/>Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest.</verse>

+    <heading>The Coming Peace and Prosperity of Zion</heading>

+    <verse num="2"><q class="begin-double" qid="38008002.1" from="38008002.1" to="38008008.1"/>Thus says the <span class="divine-name">Lord</span> of hosts: <crossref let="s" cid="c38008002.1"/>I am jealous for Zion with great jealousy, and I am jealous for her with great wrath.</verse>

+    <verse num="10">And I took <crossref let="y" cid="c38011010.1"/>my staff Favor, and I broke it, annulling the covenant that I had made with all the peoples.</verse>

+    <verse num="11">So it was annulled on that day, and the sheep traders, who were watching me, knew that it was the word of the <span class="divine-name">Lord</span>.</verse>

+    <verse num="12">Then I said to them, <q class="begin-double" qid="38011012.1" from="38011012.1" to="38011012.2"/>If it seems good to you, give me my wages; but if not, keep them.<q class="end-double" qid="38011012.2" from="38011012.1" to="38011012.2"/> And they weighed out as my wages <crossref let="z" cid="c38011012.1"/>thirty pieces of silver.</verse>

+    <heading>The <span class="divine-name">Lord</span> Will Give Salvation</heading>

+    <verse num="1"><crossref let="i" cid="c38012001.1"/>The oracle of the word of the <span class="divine-name">Lord</span> concerning Israel: Thus declares the <span class="divine-name">Lord</span>, <crossref let="j" cid="c38012001.2"/>who stretched out the heavens and <crossref let="k" cid="c38012001.3"/>founded the earth and <crossref let="j" cid="c38012001.4"/>formed the spirit of man within him:</verse>

And <crossref let="t" cid="c38012006.3"/>they shall devour to the right and to the left all the surrounding peoples, while <crossref let="u" cid="c38012006.4"/>Jerusalem shall again be inhabited in its place, in Jerusalem.</verse>

+    <verse num="7"><q class="continue-double" qid="38012007.1" from="38012002.1" to="38013007.2"/>And the <span class="divine-name">Lord</span> will give salvation to the tents of Judah first, that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem may not surpass that of Judah.</verse>

+    <verse num="8"><crossref let="o" cid="c38012008.1"/>On that day <crossref let="v" cid="c38012008.2"/>the <span class="divine-name">Lord</span> will protect the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that <crossref let="w" cid="c38012008.3"/>the feeblest among them on that day shall be like David, and the house of David shall be like God, <crossref let="x" cid="c38012008.4"/>like the angel of the <span class="divine-name">Lord</span>, going before them.</verse>

+    <heading>Him Whom They Have Pierced</heading>

+    <verse num="13">the family of the house of Levi by itself, and their wives by themselves; the family of <crossref let="h" cid="c38012013.1"/>the Shimeites by itself, and their wives by themselves;</verse>

+    <verse num="14">and all the families that are left, each by itself, and their wives by themselves.</verse>

+    <heading>Idolatry Cut Off</heading>

+    <verse num="2"><q class="continue-double" qid="38013002.1" from="38012002.1" to="38013007.2"/>And <crossref let="i" cid="c38013002.1"/>on that day, declares the <span class="divine-name">Lord</span> of hosts, <crossref let="k" cid="c38013002.2"/>I will cut off the names of the idols from the land, so that <crossref let="l" cid="c38013002.3"/>they shall be remembered no more. And also <crossref let="m" cid="c38013002.4"/>I will remove from the land the prophets and the spirit of uncleanness.</verse>

+    <heading>The Shepherd Struck</heading>

+        <begin-line class="declares"/>declares the <span class="divine-name">Lord</span> of hosts.<end-line/>

+      <begin-paragraph class="line-group"/>
+        <begin-line/><crossref let="r" cid="c38013007.2"/><q class="begin-double" qid="38013007.3" from="38013007.3" to="38013009.5"/>Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered;<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line class="indent"/>I will turn my hand against the little ones.<end-line class="br"/>

+    <heading>The Coming Day of the <span class="divine-name">Lord</span></heading>

+    <verse num="1">Behold, <crossref let="x" cid="c38014001.1"/>a day is coming for the <span class="divine-name">Lord</span>, when the spoil taken from you will be divided in your midst.</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v38014002"/>
+    <verse num="2">For <crossref let="y" cid="c38014002.1"/>I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle, and <crossref let="z" cid="c38014002.2"/>the city shall be taken <crossref let="a" cid="c38014002.3"/>and the houses plundered <crossref let="b" cid="c38014002.4"/>and the women raped. <crossref let="c" cid="c38014002.5"/>Half of the city shall go out into exile, but the rest of the people shall not be cut off from the city.</verse>

+    <verse num="3"><crossref let="d" cid="c38014003.1"/>Then the <span class="divine-name">Lord</span> will go out and fight against those nations as when he fights on a day of battle.</verse>

+    <verse num="4"><crossref let="e" cid="c38014004.1"/>On that day his feet shall stand <crossref let="f" cid="c38014004.2"/>on <crossref let="g" cid="c38014004.3"/>the Mount of Olives that lies before Jerusalem on the east, and <crossref let="g" cid="c38014004.4"/>the Mount of Olives shall be split in two from east to west by <crossref let="h" cid="c38014004.5"/>a very wide valley, so that one half of the Mount shall move northward, and the other half southward.</verse>

+    <verse num="5">And you shall flee to the valley of my mountains, for the valley of the mountains shall reach to Azal. And you shall flee as you fled from <crossref let="i" cid="c38014005.1"/>the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then the <span class="divine-name">Lord</span> my God will come, and all the holy ones with him.<note nid="n38014005.1"/></verse>

+    <verse num="7"><crossref let="k" cid="c38014007.1"/>And there shall be a unique<note nid="n38014007.1"/> day, <crossref let="l" cid="c38014007.2"/>which is known to the <span class="divine-name">Lord</span>, neither day nor night, but <crossref let="m" cid="c38014007.3"/>at evening time there shall be light.</verse>

+    <verse num="8"><crossref let="e" cid="c38014008.1"/>On that day <crossref let="n" cid="c38014008.2"/>living waters shall flow out from Jerusalem, half of them to <crossref let="o" cid="c38014008.3"/>the eastern sea<note nid="n38014008.1"/> and half of them to <crossref let="o" cid="c38014008.4"/>the western sea.<note nid="n38014008.2"/> <crossref let="p" cid="c38014008.5"/>It shall continue in summer as in winter.</verse>

+    <verse num="10"><crossref let="u" cid="c38014010.1"/>The whole land shall be turned into a plain from <crossref let="v" cid="c38014010.2"/>Geba to <crossref let="w" cid="c38014010.3"/>Rimmon south of Jerusalem. But <crossref let="x" cid="c38014010.4"/>Jerusalem shall remain aloft <crossref let="y" cid="c38014010.5"/>on its site from <crossref let="z" cid="c38014010.6"/>the Gate of Benjamin to the place of the former gate, to <crossref let="a" cid="c38014010.7"/>the Corner Gate, and from <crossref let="b" cid="c38014010.8"/>the Tower of Hananel to the king&apos;s winepresses.</verse>

+    <verse num="11">And it shall be inhabited, for <crossref let="c" cid="c38014011.1"/>there shall never again be a decree of utter destruction.<note nid="n38014011.1"/> <crossref let="d" cid="c38014011.2"/>Jerusalem shall dwell in security.</verse>

+    <verse num="12">And this shall be <crossref let="e" cid="c38014012.1"/>the plague with which the <span class="divine-name">Lord</span> will strike all the peoples that wage war against Jerusalem: their flesh will rot while they are still standing on their feet, their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths.</verse>

+    <verse num="13">And <crossref let="f" cid="c38014013.1"/>on that day a great panic from the <span class="divine-name">Lord</span> shall fall on them, so that <crossref let="g" cid="c38014013.2"/>each will seize the hand of another, and the hand of the one will be raised against the hand of the other.</verse>
