+    <heading>The Coming Destruction</heading>

+        <begin-line class="indent"/><crossref let="f" cid="c33001002.2"/>pay attention, O earth, and all that is in it,<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line/>and <crossref let="g" cid="c33001002.3"/>let the Lord <span class="divine-name">God</span> be a witness against you,<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line class="indent"/><crossref let="h" cid="c33001002.4"/>the Lord from his holy temple.<end-line class="br"/>
+    </verse>

+        <begin-line class="indent"/>Is it not <crossref let="d" cid="c33001005.3"/>Samaria?<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line/>And what is <crossref let="o" cid="c33001005.4"/>the high place of Judah?<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line class="indent"/>Is it not Jerusalem?<end-line class="br"/>
+    </verse>

+        <begin-line class="indent"/>a place for planting vineyards,<end-line class="br"/>

+        <begin-line/>All <crossref let="s" cid="c33001007.1"/>her carved images shall be beaten to pieces,<end-line class="br"/>

+        <begin-line class="indent"/>and all her idols I will lay waste,<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line/>for from <crossref let="t" cid="c33001007.3"/>the fee of a prostitute she gathered them,<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line class="indent"/>and to the fee of a prostitute they shall return.<end-line/>
+    </verse>

+    </verse>

+        <begin-line/>Pass on your way,<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line class="indent"/>inhabitants of Shaphir,<end-line class="br"/>

+        <begin-line/>the inhabitants of Zaanan<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line class="indent"/>do not come out;<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line/>the lamentation of Beth-ezel<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line class="indent"/>shall take away from you its standing place.<end-line class="br"/>

+        <begin-line/>For the inhabitants of Maroth<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line class="indent"/>wait anxiously for good,<end-line class="br"/>

+        <begin-line/>Harness the steeds to the chariots,<end-line class="br"/>

+        <begin-line/>it was the beginning of sin<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line class="indent"/>to the daughter of Zion,<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line/>for in you were found<end-line class="br"/>

+    <heading>Woe to the Oppressors</heading>

+        <begin-line/><crossref let="l" cid="c33002001.1"/>Woe to those who devise wickedness<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line class="indent"/>and work evil <crossref let="m" cid="c33002001.2"/>on their beds!<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line/>When the morning dawns, they perform it,<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line class="indent"/>because it is in the power of their hand.<end-line class="br"/>
+    </verse>

+        <begin-line/>They covet fields and <crossref let="n" cid="c33002002.1"/>seize them,<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line class="indent"/>and houses, and take them away;<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line/>they oppress a man and his house,<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line class="indent"/>a man and his inheritance.<end-line class="br"/>
+    </verse>

+    <verse num="3">
+        <begin-line/>Therefore thus says the <span class="divine-name">Lord</span>:<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line/>behold, against <crossref let="o" cid="c33002003.1"/>this family I am devising disaster,<note nid="n33002003.1"/><end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line class="indent"/>from which you cannot remove your necks,<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line/>and you <crossref let="p" cid="c33002003.2"/>shall not walk haughtily,<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line class="indent"/><crossref let="q" cid="c33002003.3"/>for it will be a time of disaster.<end-line class="br"/>

+        <begin-line/>and say, <q class="begin-double" qid="33002004.1" from="33002004.1" to="33002004.2"/>We are utterly ruined;<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line class="indent"/><crossref let="s" cid="c33002004.2"/>he changes the portion of my people;<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line/><crossref let="s" cid="c33002004.3"/>how he removes it from me!<end-line class="br"/>

+    </verse>

+        <begin-line/>Therefore you will have none <crossref let="u" cid="c33002005.1"/>to cast the line by lot<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line class="indent"/>in the assembly of the <span class="divine-name">Lord</span>.<end-line/>
+    </verse>

+    <begin-paragraph class="line-group"/>

+        <begin-line/><crossref let="v" cid="c33002006.1"/><q class="begin-double" qid="33002006.1" from="33002006.1" to="33002006.2"/>Do not preach<q class="end-double" qid="33002006.2" from="33002006.1" to="33002006.2"/>&emdash;thus they preach&emdash;<end-line class="br"/>

+        <begin-line/>Should this be said, O house of Jacob?<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line class="indent"/><crossref let="v" cid="c33002007.1"/>Has the <span class="divine-name">Lord</span> grown impatient?<note nid="n33002007.1"/><end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line class="indent"/>Are these his deeds?<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line/>Do not my words do good<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line class="indent"/>to him who walks uprightly?<end-line class="br"/>

+        <begin-line/>But lately <crossref let="y" cid="c33002008.1"/>my people have risen up as an enemy;<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line/>you strip the rich robe from those who pass by trustingly<end-line class="br"/>

+        <begin-line/>The women of my people you drive out<end-line class="br"/>

+        <begin-line/>I will surely assemble all of you, O Jacob;<end-line class="br"/>

+        <begin-line/>I will set them together<end-line class="br"/>

+        <begin-line class="indent"/>a noisy multitude of men.<end-line class="br"/>

+        <begin-line/>Their king passes on before them,<end-line class="br"/>

+    <heading>Rulers and Prophets Denounced</heading>

+        <begin-line class="indent"/>and rulers of the house of Israel!<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line/><crossref let="m" cid="c33003001.2"/>Is it not for you to know justice?&emdash;<end-line class="br"/>
+    </verse>

+    <verse num="2">
+        <begin-line class="indent"/>you <crossref let="n" cid="c33003002.1"/>who hate the good and love the evil,<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line/><crossref let="o" cid="c33003002.2"/>who tear the skin from off my people<note nid="n33003002.1"/><end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line class="indent"/>and their flesh from off their bones,<end-line class="br"/>

+        <begin-line class="indent"/>and chop them up like meat in a pot,<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line class="indent"/>like flesh in a cauldron.<end-line/>

+    <verse num="4">
+        <begin-line/><crossref let="q" cid="c33003004.1"/>Then they will cry to the <span class="divine-name">Lord</span>,<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line class="indent"/>but he will not answer them;<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line/><crossref let="r" cid="c33003004.2"/>he will hide his face from them at that time,<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line class="indent"/>because they have made their deeds evil.<end-line/>
+    </verse>

+    <verse num="5">
+        <begin-line/>Thus says the <span class="divine-name">Lord</span> concerning <crossref let="s" cid="c33003005.1"/>the prophets<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line class="indent"/>who lead my people astray,<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line/><crossref let="t" cid="c33003005.2"/>who cry <q class="begin-double" qid="33003005.1" from="33003005.1" to="33003005.2"/>Peace<q class="end-double" qid="33003005.2" from="33003005.1" to="33003005.2"/><end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line class="indent"/>when they have something to eat,<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line/>but declare war against him<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line class="indent"/>who puts nothing into their mouths.<end-line class="br"/>
+    </verse>

+        <begin-line/>Therefore <crossref let="u" cid="c33003006.1"/>it shall be night to you, without vision,<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line class="indent"/>and darkness to you, without divination.<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line/><crossref let="v" cid="c33003006.2"/>The sun shall go down on the prophets,<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line class="indent"/>and the day shall be black over them;<end-line class="br"/>

+        <begin-line class="indent"/>and the diviners put to shame;<end-line class="br"/>

+        <begin-line class="indent"/>for <crossref let="y" cid="c33003007.3"/>there is no answer from God.<end-line class="br"/>

+        <begin-line class="indent"/>with the Spirit of the <span class="divine-name">Lord</span>,<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line class="indent"/>and with justice and might,<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line/>to declare to Jacob <crossref let="a" cid="c33003008.2"/>his transgression<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line class="indent"/>and to Israel his sin.<end-line/>

+        <begin-line class="indent"/>and make crooked all that is straight,<end-line class="br"/>
