+    <heading>Greeting to the Seven Churches</heading>

+    <verse num="3">And no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll or to look into it,</verse>

+    <verse num="2">Then I saw another angel ascending <crossref let="w" cid="c66007002.1"/>from the rising of the sun, with <crossref let="x" cid="c66007002.2"/>the seal of the living God, and he called with a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm earth and sea,</verse>

+    <heading>A Great Multitude from Every Nation</heading>

+    <verse num="9">After this I looked, and behold, <crossref let="b" cid="c66007009.1"/>a great multitude that no one could number, <crossref let="c" cid="c66007009.2"/>from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, <crossref let="d" cid="c66007009.3"/>clothed in white robes, with <crossref let="e" cid="c66007009.4"/>palm branches in their hands,</verse>

+        <begin-line class="indent"/>and <crossref let="n" cid="c66007015.1"/>serve him day and night in his temple;<end-line class="br"/>
+        <begin-line class="indent"/>and he who sits on the throne <crossref let="o" cid="c66007015.2"/>will shelter them with his presence.<end-line class="br"/>

+        <begin-line/><crossref let="p" cid="c66007016.1"/>They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore;<end-line class="br"/>

+        <begin-line class="indent"/>nor any scorching heat.<end-line class="br"/>
+    </verse>

+        <begin-line/>For the Lamb in the midst of the throne <crossref let="r" cid="c66007017.1"/>will be their shepherd,<end-line class="br"/>

+    <heading>The Seventh Seal and the Golden Censer</heading>
+    <begin-paragraph/>
+    <verse num="1">When the Lamb opened <crossref let="u" cid="c66008001.1"/>the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v66008002"/>
+    <verse num="2">Then I saw the seven angels <crossref let="v" cid="c66008002.1"/>who stand before God, and seven trumpets were given to them.</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v66008003"/>
+    <verse num="3">And another angel came and stood <crossref let="w" cid="c66008003.1"/>at the altar with a golden censer, and he was given much incense to offer with <crossref let="x" cid="c66008003.2"/>the prayers of all the saints on <crossref let="y" cid="c66008003.3"/>the golden altar before the throne,</verse>

+    <verse num="4">and <crossref let="z" cid="c66008004.1"/>the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, rose before God from the hand of the angel.</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v66008005"/>
+    <verse num="5">Then the angel took the censer and <crossref let="a" cid="c66008005.1"/>filled it with fire from the altar and threw it on the earth, and <crossref let="b" cid="c66008005.2"/>there were peals of <crossref let="c" cid="c66008005.3"/>thunder, rumblings,<note nid="n66008005.1"/> flashes of lightning, and an earthquake.</verse>

+    <heading>The Seven Trumpets</heading>
+    <begin-paragraph/>
+    <verse num="6">Now the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared to blow them.</verse>

+    <begin-paragraph/>
+    <verse num="7">The first angel blew his trumpet, and there followed <crossref let="d" cid="c66008007.1"/>hail and <crossref let="e" cid="c66008007.2"/>fire, mixed with blood, and these were thrown upon the earth. And a <crossref let="f" cid="c66008007.3"/>third of the earth was burned up, and a third of <crossref let="g" cid="c66008007.4"/>the trees were burned up, and all green grass was burned up.</verse>

+    <begin-paragraph/>
+    <verse num="8">The second angel blew his trumpet, and something like <crossref let="h" cid="c66008008.1"/>a great mountain, burning with fire, was thrown into the sea, and a third of the sea <crossref let="i" cid="c66008008.2"/>became blood.</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v66008009"/>
+    <verse num="9">A third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of <crossref let="j" cid="c66008009.1"/>the ships were destroyed.</verse>

+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v66008010"/>
+    <begin-paragraph/>
+    <verse num="10">The third angel blew his trumpet, and <crossref let="k" cid="c66008010.1"/>a great star fell from heaven, blazing like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on <crossref let="l" cid="c66008010.2"/>the springs of water.</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v66008011"/>
+    <verse num="11">The name of the star is Wormwood.<note nid="n66008011.1"/> A third of the waters <crossref let="m" cid="c66008011.1"/>became wormwood, and many people died from the water, <crossref let="n" cid="c66008011.2"/>because it had been made bitter.</verse>

+    <begin-paragraph/>
+    <verse num="12">The fourth angel blew his trumpet, and a third of <crossref let="o" cid="c66008012.1"/>the sun was struck, and a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of their light might be darkened, and a third of the day might be kept from shining, and likewise a third of the night.</verse>

+    <verse num="13">Then I looked, and I heard an eagle crying with a loud voice as it flew directly overhead, <crossref let="p" cid="c66008013.1"/><q class="begin-double" qid="66008013.1" from="66008013.1" to="66008013.2"/>Woe, woe, woe to those who dwell on the earth, at the blasts of the other trumpets that the three angels are about to blow!<q class="end-double" qid="66008013.2" from="66008013.1" to="66008013.2"/></verse>

+    <begin-paragraph/>
+    <verse num="1">And the fifth angel blew his trumpet, and <crossref let="q" cid="c66009001.1"/>I saw a star fallen from heaven to earth, and he was given <crossref let="r" cid="c66009001.2"/>the key to the shaft of <crossref let="s" cid="c66009001.3"/>the bottomless pit.<note nid="n66009001.1"/></verse>

+    <verse num="2">He opened the shaft of the bottomless pit, and from the shaft <crossref let="t" cid="c66009002.1"/>rose smoke like the smoke of a great furnace, and <crossref let="u" cid="c66009002.2"/>the sun and the air were darkened with the smoke from the shaft.</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v66009003"/>
+    <verse num="3">Then from the smoke came <crossref let="v" cid="c66009003.1"/>locusts on the earth, and they were given power like the power of scorpions of the earth.</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v66009004"/>
+    <verse num="4">They were told <crossref let="w" cid="c66009004.1"/>not to harm <crossref let="x" cid="c66009004.2"/>the grass of the earth or any green plant or any tree, but only those people who do not have <crossref let="y" cid="c66009004.3"/>the seal of God on their foreheads.</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v66009005"/>
+    <verse num="5">They were allowed to torment them <crossref let="z" cid="c66009005.1"/>for five months, but not to kill them, and their torment was like the torment of a scorpion when it stings someone.</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v66009006"/>
+    <verse num="6">And in those days <crossref let="a" cid="c66009006.1"/>people will seek death and will not find it. They will long to die, but death will flee from them.</verse>

+    <verse num="7"><crossref let="b" cid="c66009007.1"/>In appearance the locusts were like horses prepared for battle: <crossref let="c" cid="c66009007.2"/>on their heads were what looked like crowns of gold; their faces were <crossref let="d" cid="c66009007.3"/>like human faces,</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v66009008"/>
+    <verse num="8">their hair like women&apos;s hair, and <crossref let="e" cid="c66009008.1"/>their teeth like lions&apos; teeth;</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v66009009"/>
+    <verse num="9">they had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the noise of their wings was <crossref let="f" cid="c66009009.1"/>like the noise of many chariots with <crossref let="g" cid="c66009009.2"/>horses rushing into battle.</verse>

+    <verse num="10">They have tails and stings like scorpions, and their power to hurt people <crossref let="h" cid="c66009010.1"/>for five months is in their tails.</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v66009011"/>
+    <verse num="11">They have <crossref let="i" cid="c66009011.1"/>as king over them the angel of the bottomless pit. His name in Hebrew is <crossref let="j" cid="c66009011.2"/>Abaddon, and in Greek he is called Apollyon.<note nid="n66009011.1"/></verse>

+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v66009012"/>
+    <begin-paragraph/>
+    <verse num="12"><crossref let="k" cid="c66009012.1"/>The first woe has passed; behold, two woes are still to come.</verse>

+    <begin-paragraph/>
+    <verse num="13">Then the sixth angel blew his trumpet, and I heard a voice from <crossref let="l" cid="c66009013.1"/>the four horns of the golden altar before God,</verse>

+    <verse num="14">saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, <q class="begin-double" qid="66009014.1" from="66009014.1" to="66009014.2"/>Release <crossref let="m" cid="c66009014.1"/>the four angels who are bound at <crossref let="n" cid="c66009014.2"/>the great river Euphrates.<q class="end-double" qid="66009014.2" from="66009014.1" to="66009014.2"/></verse>

+    <verse num="15">So the four angels, who had been prepared for the hour, the day, the month, and the year, were released <crossref let="o" cid="c66009015.1"/>to kill a third of mankind.</verse>

+    <verse num="16">The number of <crossref let="p" cid="c66009016.1"/>mounted troops was <crossref let="q" cid="c66009016.2"/>twice ten thousand times ten thousand; <crossref let="r" cid="c66009016.3"/>I heard their number.</verse>

+    <verse num="17">And this is how I saw the horses in my vision and those who rode them: they wore breastplates the color of fire and of sapphire<note nid="n66009017.1"/> and of sulfur, and the heads of the horses were <crossref let="s" cid="c66009017.1"/>like lions&apos; heads, and fire and smoke and sulfur came out of their mouths.</verse>

+    <verse num="18">By these three plagues a third of mankind was killed, by the fire and smoke and sulfur coming out of their mouths.</verse>

+    <verse num="19">For the power of the horses is in their mouths and in their tails, for their tails are like serpents with heads, and by means of them they wound.</verse>

+    <heading>The Angel and the Little Scroll</heading>

+    <verse num="1">Then I saw another mighty angel coming down from heaven, wrapped in a cloud, with <crossref let="y" cid="c66010001.1"/>a rainbow over his head, and <crossref let="z" cid="c66010001.2"/>his face was like the sun, and <crossref let="a" cid="c66010001.3"/>his legs like pillars of fire.</verse>

+    <verse num="2"><crossref let="b" cid="c66010002.1"/>He had a little scroll open in his hand. And he set his right foot on the sea, and his left foot on the land,</verse>

+    <verse num="3">and called out with a loud voice, <crossref let="c" cid="c66010003.1"/>like a lion roaring. When he called out, the seven thunders sounded.</verse>

+    <verse num="5">And the angel whom I saw standing on the sea and on the land <crossref let="e" cid="c66010005.1"/>raised his right hand to heaven</verse>

+    <verse num="6">and swore by <crossref let="f" cid="c66010006.1"/>him who lives forever and ever, <crossref let="g" cid="c66010006.2"/>who created heaven and what is in it, the earth and what is in it, and the sea and what is in it, that there would be no more delay,</verse>

+    <verse num="7">but that <crossref let="h" cid="c66010007.1"/>in the days of the trumpet call to be sounded by the seventh angel, the mystery of God would be fulfilled, <crossref let="i" cid="c66010007.2"/>just as he announced to his servants the prophets.</verse>

+    <verse num="9">So I went to the angel and told him to give me the little scroll. +    <verse num="10">And I took the little scroll from the hand of the angel and ate it. It was sweet as honey in my mouth, but when I had eaten it my stomach was made bitter.</verse>

+    <heading>The Two Witnesses</heading>
+    <begin-paragraph/>
+    <verse num="1">Then I was given <crossref let="m" cid="c66011001.1"/>a measuring rod like a staff, and I was told, <q class="begin-double" qid="66011001.1" from="66011001.1" to="66011003.1"/>Rise and measure the temple of God and the altar and those who worship there,</verse>

+    <verse num="2">but do not measure <crossref let="n" cid="c66011002.1"/>the court outside the temple; leave that out, for <crossref let="o" cid="c66011002.2"/>it is given over to the nations, and they will trample the holy city for <crossref let="p" cid="c66011002.3"/>forty-two months.</verse>

+    <verse num="3">And I will grant authority to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for <crossref let="p" cid="c66011003.1"/>1,260 days, <crossref let="q" cid="c66011003.2"/>clothed in sackcloth.<q class="end-double" qid="66011003.1" from="66011001.1" to="66011003.1"/></verse>

+    <begin-paragraph/>
+    <verse num="4">These are <crossref let="r" cid="c66011004.1"/>the two olive trees and the two lampstands that stand before the Lord of the earth.</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v66011005"/>
+    <verse num="5">And if anyone would harm them, <crossref let="s" cid="c66011005.1"/>fire pours from their mouth and consumes their foes. If anyone would harm them, <crossref let="t" cid="c66011005.2"/>this is how he is doomed to be killed.</verse>

+    <verse num="6">They have the power <crossref let="u" cid="c66011006.1"/>to shut the sky, that no rain may fall during the days of their prophesying, and they have power over the waters to turn them into blood and <crossref let="v" cid="c66011006.2"/>to strike the earth with every kind of plague, as often as they desire.</verse>

+    <verse num="7">And when they have finished their testimony, <crossref let="w" cid="c66011007.1"/>the beast that rises from <crossref let="x" cid="c66011007.2"/>the bottomless pit<note nid="n66011007.1"/> <crossref let="y" cid="c66011007.3"/>will make war on them and conquer them and kill them,</verse>

+    <verse num="9">For three and a half days some from the peoples and tribes and languages and nations will gaze at their dead bodies and <crossref let="b" cid="c66011009.1"/>refuse to let them be placed in a tomb,</verse>

+    <verse num="10">and <crossref let="c" cid="c66011010.1"/>those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them and make merry and <crossref let="d" cid="c66011010.2"/>exchange presents, because these two prophets <crossref let="e" cid="c66011010.3"/>had been a torment to those who dwell on the earth.</verse>

+    <verse num="11">But after the three and a half days <crossref let="f" cid="c66011011.1"/>a breath of life from God entered them, and they stood up on their feet, and great fear fell on those who saw them.</verse>

+    <verse num="12">Then they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, <crossref let="g" cid="c66011012.1"/><q class="begin-double" qid="66011012.1" from="66011012.1" to="66011012.2"/>Come up here!<q class="end-double" qid="66011012.2" from="66011012.1" to="66011012.2"/> And <crossref let="h" cid="c66011012.2"/>they went up to heaven <crossref let="i" cid="c66011012.3"/>in a cloud, and their enemies watched them.</verse>

+    <heading>The Seventh Trumpet</heading>

+    <heading>The Woman and the Dragon</heading>

+    <verse num="1">And a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman <crossref let="e" cid="c66012001.1"/>clothed with <crossref let="f" cid="c66012001.2"/>the sun, with <crossref let="f" cid="c66012001.3"/>the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars.</verse>

+    <verse num="2">She was pregnant and <crossref let="g" cid="c66012002.1"/>was crying out in birth pains and the agony of giving birth.</verse>

And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she bore her child <crossref let="n" cid="c66012004.3"/>he might devour it.</verse>

+    <verse num="6">and the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, in which she is to be nourished for <crossref let="q" cid="c66012006.1"/>1,260 days.</verse>

+    <heading>Satan Thrown Down to Earth</heading>
+    <begin-paragraph/>
+    <verse num="7">Now war arose in heaven, <crossref let="r" cid="c66012007.1"/>Michael and <crossref let="s" cid="c66012007.2"/>his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back,</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v66012008"/>
+    <verse num="8">but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven.</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v66012009"/>
+    <verse num="9">And <crossref let="t" cid="c66012009.1"/>the great dragon was thrown down, <crossref let="u" cid="c66012009.2"/>that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, <crossref let="v" cid="c66012009.3"/>the deceiver of the whole world&emdash;<crossref let="w" cid="c66012009.4"/>he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.</verse>

+    <verse num="13">And when the dragon saw that he had been thrown down to the earth, he pursued <crossref let="f" cid="c66012013.1"/>the woman who had given birth to the male child.</verse>

+    <verse num="14">But the woman was given the two <crossref let="g" cid="c66012014.1"/>wings of the great eagle so that she might fly from the serpent <crossref let="h" cid="c66012014.2"/>into the wilderness, to the place where she is to be nourished <crossref let="i" cid="c66012014.3"/>for a time, and times, and half a time.</verse>

+    <verse num="15">The serpent poured water <crossref let="j" cid="c66012015.1"/>like a river out of his mouth after the woman, to sweep her away with a flood.</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v66012016"/>
+    <verse num="16">But the earth came to the help of the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed the river that the dragon had poured from his mouth.</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v66012017"/>
+    <verse num="17">Then the dragon became furious with the woman and went off <crossref let="k" cid="c66012017.1"/>to make war on the rest of <crossref let="l" cid="c66012017.2"/>her offspring, <crossref let="m" cid="c66012017.3"/>on those who keep the commandments of God and hold to <crossref let="n" cid="c66012017.4"/>the testimony of Jesus. And he stood<note nid="n66012017.1"/> on the sand of the sea.</verse>

+    <heading>The First Beast</heading>

+    <verse num="1">And I saw a beast rising out of the sea, <crossref let="o" cid="c66013001.1"/>with ten horns and seven heads, with ten diadems on its horns and <crossref let="p" cid="c66013001.2"/>blasphemous names on its heads.</verse>

+    <verse num="2">And the beast that I saw was <crossref let="q" cid="c66013002.1"/>like a leopard; its feet were like <crossref let="r" cid="c66013002.2"/>a bear&apos;s, and its mouth was like <crossref let="s" cid="c66013002.3"/>a lion&apos;s mouth. And to it <crossref let="t" cid="c66013002.4"/>the dragon gave his power and <crossref let="u" cid="c66013002.5"/>his throne and great authority.</verse>

+    <verse num="3">One of its heads seemed to have a mortal wound, but its mortal wound was healed, and <crossref let="v" cid="c66013003.1"/>the whole earth marveled as they followed the beast.</verse>

+    <verse num="4">And they worshiped the dragon, for he had given his authority to the beast, and they worshiped the beast, saying, <crossref let="w" cid="c66013004.1"/><q class="begin-double" qid="66013004.1" from="66013004.1" to="66013004.2"/>Who is like the beast, and who can fight against it?<q class="end-double" qid="66013004.2" from="66013004.1" to="66013004.2"/></verse>

+    <verse num="5">And the beast was given <crossref let="x" cid="c66013005.1"/>a mouth uttering haughty and blasphemous words, and it was allowed to exercise authority for <crossref let="y" cid="c66013005.2"/>forty-two months.</verse>

+    <verse num="6">It opened its mouth to utter blasphemies against God, blaspheming his name and his dwelling,<note nid="n66013006.1"/> that is, those who dwell in heaven.</verse>

+    <verse num="7">Also it was allowed <crossref let="z" cid="c66013007.1"/>to make war on the saints and to conquer them.<note nid="n66013007.1"/> And authority was given it over every tribe and people and language and nation,</verse>

+    <verse num="8">and all <crossref let="a" cid="c66013008.1"/>who dwell on earth will worship it, everyone whose name has not been written before the foundation of the world in <crossref let="b" cid="c66013008.2"/>the book of life of <crossref let="c" cid="c66013008.3"/>the Lamb <crossref let="d" cid="c66013008.4"/>who was slain.</verse>

+        <begin-line class="indent"/>with the sword must he be slain.<end-line/>

+    </verse>
+    <end-paragraph/>

+    <heading>The Second Beast</heading>
+    <begin-paragraph/>
+    <verse num="11">Then <crossref let="i" cid="c66013011.1"/>I saw another beast rising out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb and it spoke like a dragon.</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v66013012"/>
+    <verse num="12">It exercises all the authority of the first beast in its presence,<note nid="n66013012.1"/> and makes the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, <crossref let="j" cid="c66013012.1"/>whose mortal wound was healed.</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v66013013"/>
+    <verse num="13"><crossref let="k" cid="c66013013.1"/>It performs great signs, even <crossref let="l" cid="c66013013.2"/>making fire come down from heaven to earth in front of people,</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v66013014"/>
+    <verse num="14">and by the signs that it is allowed to work in the presence of<note nid="n66013014.1"/> the beast <crossref let="m" cid="c66013014.1"/>it deceives those who dwell on earth, telling them to make an image for the beast <crossref let="n" cid="c66013014.2"/>that was wounded by the sword and yet lived.</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v66013015"/>
+    <verse num="15">And it was allowed to give breath to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast might even speak and might cause those who would not <crossref let="o" cid="c66013015.1"/>worship the image of the beast <crossref let="p" cid="c66013015.2"/>to be slain.</verse>

+    <verse num="16">Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave,<note nid="n66013016.1"/> <crossref let="q" cid="c66013016.1"/>to be marked on the right hand or the forehead,</verse>

+    <verse num="17">so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, <crossref let="r" cid="c66013017.1"/>the name of the beast or <crossref let="s" cid="c66013017.2"/>the number of its name.</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v66013018"/>
+    <verse num="18"><crossref let="t" cid="c66013018.1"/>This calls for wisdom: let the one who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number <crossref let="u" cid="c66013018.2"/>of a man, and his number is 666.<note nid="n66013018.1"/></verse>

+    <heading>The Lamb and the 144,000</heading>

+    <verse num="1">Then I looked, and behold, on <crossref let="v" cid="c66014001.1"/>Mount Zion <crossref let="w" cid="c66014001.2"/>stood the Lamb, and with him <crossref let="x" cid="c66014001.3"/>144,000 who <crossref let="y" cid="c66014001.4"/>had his name and his Father&apos;s name written <crossref let="z" cid="c66014001.5"/>on their foreheads.</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v66014002"/>
+    <verse num="2">And I heard a voice from heaven <crossref let="a" cid="c66014002.1"/>like the roar of many waters and <crossref let="b" cid="c66014002.2"/>like the sound of loud thunder. The voice I heard was like the sound of <crossref let="c" cid="c66014002.3"/>harpists playing on their harps,</verse>

+    <verse num="3">and they were singing <crossref let="d" cid="c66014003.1"/>a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and before the elders. <crossref let="e" cid="c66014003.2"/>No one could learn that song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth.</verse>

+    <verse num="4">It is these who have not defiled themselves with women, for <crossref let="f" cid="c66014004.1"/>they are virgins. It is these <crossref let="g" cid="c66014004.2"/>who follow the Lamb wherever he goes. These have been redeemed from mankind as <crossref let="h" cid="c66014004.3"/>firstfruits for God and the Lamb,</verse>

+    <heading>The Messages of the Three Angels</heading>

+    <verse num="6">Then I saw another angel <crossref let="k" cid="c66014006.1"/>flying directly overhead, with an eternal gospel to proclaim to <crossref let="l" cid="c66014006.2"/>those who dwell on earth, to every nation and tribe and language and people.</verse>

+    <heading>The Harvest of the Earth</heading>

+    <heading>The Seven Angels with Seven Plagues</heading>

+    <heading>The Seven Bowls of God&apos;s Wrath</heading>

+    <verse num="2">So the first angel went and poured out his bowl on the earth, and harmful and painful <crossref let="s" cid="c66016002.1"/>sores came upon the people who bore <crossref let="t" cid="c66016002.2"/>the mark of the beast and worshiped its image.</verse>

+    </verse>

+    <begin-paragraph/>
+    <verse num="8">The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and it was allowed to scorch people <crossref let="g" cid="c66016008.1"/>with fire.</verse>

+    <verse num="9">They were scorched by the fierce heat, and <crossref let="h" cid="c66016009.1"/>they cursed<note nid="n66016009.1"/> the name of God who had power over these plagues. <crossref let="i" cid="c66016009.2"/>They did not repent <crossref let="j" cid="c66016009.3"/>and give him glory.</verse>

+    <verse num="10">The fifth angel poured out his bowl on <crossref let="k" cid="c66016010.1"/>the throne of the beast, and <crossref let="l" cid="c66016010.2"/>its kingdom was plunged into darkness. People gnawed their tongues in anguish</verse>

+    <verse num="12">The sixth angel poured out his bowl on <crossref let="p" cid="c66016012.1"/>the great river Euphrates, and <crossref let="q" cid="c66016012.2"/>its water was dried up, <crossref let="r" cid="c66016012.3"/>to prepare the way for the kings <crossref let="s" cid="c66016012.4"/>from the east.</verse>

+    <verse num="13">And I saw, coming out of the mouth of <crossref let="t" cid="c66016013.1"/>the dragon and out of the mouth of <crossref let="u" cid="c66016013.2"/>the beast and out of the mouth of <crossref let="v" cid="c66016013.3"/>the false prophet, three <crossref let="w" cid="c66016013.4"/>unclean spirits like <crossref let="x" cid="c66016013.5"/>frogs.</verse>

+    <verse num="14">For they are <crossref let="y" cid="c66016014.1"/>demonic spirits, <crossref let="z" cid="c66016014.2"/>performing signs, who go abroad to the kings of the whole world, <crossref let="a" cid="c66016014.3"/>to assemble them for battle on <crossref let="b" cid="c66016014.4"/>the great day of God the Almighty.</verse>

+    <heading>The Seventh Bowl</heading>

+    <verse num="17">The seventh angel poured out his bowl into <crossref let="h" cid="c66016017.1"/>the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple, from the throne, saying, <crossref let="i" cid="c66016017.2"/><q class="begin-double" qid="66016017.1" from="66016017.1" to="66016017.2"/>It is done!<q class="end-double" qid="66016017.2" from="66016017.1" to="66016017.2"/></verse>

+    <verse num="18">And there were <crossref let="j" cid="c66016018.1"/>flashes of lightning, rumblings,<note nid="n66016018.1"/> peals of thunder, and <crossref let="k" cid="c66016018.2"/>a great earthquake <crossref let="l" cid="c66016018.3"/>such as there had never been since man was on the earth, so great was that earthquake.</verse>

+    <verse num="19"><crossref let="m" cid="c66016019.1"/>The great city <crossref let="n" cid="c66016019.2"/>was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell, and God <crossref let="o" cid="c66016019.3"/>remembered <crossref let="p" cid="c66016019.4"/>Babylon the great, <crossref let="q" cid="c66016019.5"/>to make her drain the cup of the wine of the fury of his wrath.</verse>

+    <heading>The Great Prostitute and the Beast</heading>

+    <verse num="7">But the angel said to me, <q class="begin-double" qid="66017007.1" from="66017007.1" to="66017014.1"/>Why do you marvel? I will tell you <crossref let="o" cid="c66017007.1"/>the mystery of the woman, and of the beast with seven heads and ten horns that carries her.</verse>

+    <verse num="8">The beast that you saw <crossref let="p" cid="c66017008.1"/>was, and is not, and <crossref let="q" cid="c66017008.2"/>is about to rise from <crossref let="r" cid="c66017008.3"/>the bottomless pit<note nid="n66017008.1"/> and <crossref let="s" cid="c66017008.4"/>go to destruction. And <crossref let="t" cid="c66017008.5"/>the dwellers on earth whose names have not been written in <crossref let="u" cid="c66017008.6"/>the book of life from the foundation of the world will marvel to see the beast, because <crossref let="p" cid="c66017008.7"/>it was and is not and is to come.</verse>

+    <verse num="9"><crossref let="v" cid="c66017009.1"/>This calls for a mind with wisdom: the seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman is seated;</verse>

+    <verse num="10">they are also seven kings, five of whom have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come, and when he does come he must remain only a little while.</verse>

+    <verse num="11">As for the beast <crossref let="w" cid="c66017011.1"/>that was and is not, it is an eighth but it belongs to the seven, and it goes to destruction.</verse>

+    <verse num="12">And <crossref let="x" cid="c66017012.1"/>the ten horns that you saw are ten kings who have not yet received royal power, but they are to receive authority as kings <crossref let="y" cid="c66017012.2"/>for one hour, together with the beast.</verse>

+    <verse num="13">These are of one mind, and they hand over their power and authority to the beast.</verse>

+    <heading>The Rider on a White Horse</heading>

The one sitting on it is called <crossref let="l" cid="c66019011.3"/>Faithful and True, and <crossref let="m" cid="c66019011.4"/>in righteousness he judges and makes war.</verse>

+    <heading>The Thousand Years</heading>

Also I saw <crossref let="v" cid="c66020004.3"/>the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those <crossref let="w" cid="c66020004.4"/>who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. <crossref let="x" cid="c66020004.5"/>They came to life and <crossref let="y" cid="c66020004.6"/>reigned with Christ for a thousand years.</verse>

+    <verse num="5">The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended. This is the first resurrection.</verse>

+    <heading>The Defeat of Satan</heading>

+    <heading>The New Heaven and the New Earth</heading>

+    <heading>The New Jerusalem</heading>

+    <verse num="13">on the east three gates, on the north three gates, on the south three gates, and on the west three gates.</verse>

+    <verse num="14">And the wall of the city had twelve <crossref let="g" cid="c66021014.1"/>foundations, and <crossref let="h" cid="c66021014.2"/>on them were the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.</verse>

+    <verse num="16">The city lies foursquare, its length the same as its width. And he measured the city with his rod, 12,000 stadia.<note nid="n66021016.1"/> Its length and width and height are equal.</verse>

+    <verse num="19"><crossref let="m" cid="c66021019.1"/>The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with every kind of jewel. The first was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald,</verse>

+    <verse num="20">the fifth onyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, the twelfth amethyst.</verse>

+    <verse num="21">And the twelve gates were twelve pearls, each of the gates made of a single pearl, and <crossref let="n" cid="c66021021.1"/>the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.</verse>

+    <verse num="24">By its light <crossref let="r" cid="c66021024.1"/>will the nations walk, and the kings of the earth <crossref let="s" cid="c66021024.2"/>will bring their glory into it,</verse>

+    <verse num="26">They will bring into it the glory and the honor of the nations.</verse>
