+    <heading>Thanksgiving and Prayer</heading>

+    <verse num="15">For this reason, <crossref let="m" cid="c49001015.1"/>because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love<note nid="n49001015.1"/> toward all the saints,</verse>

+    <heading>By Grace Through Faith</heading>
+    <begin-paragraph/>
+    <verse num="1"><crossref let="j" cid="c49002001.1"/>And you were <crossref let="k" cid="c49002001.2"/>dead in the trespasses and sins</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v49002002"/>
+    <verse num="2"><crossref let="l" cid="c49002002.1"/>in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following <crossref let="m" cid="c49002002.2"/>the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in <crossref let="n" cid="c49002002.3"/>the sons of disobedience&emdash;</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v49002003"/>
+    <verse num="3">among whom we all once lived in <crossref let="o" cid="c49002003.1"/>the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body<note nid="n49002003.1"/> and the mind, and <crossref let="p" cid="c49002003.2"/>were by nature <crossref let="q" cid="c49002003.3"/>children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.<note nid="n49002003.2"/></verse>

+    <verse num="4">But<note nid="n49002004.1"/> God, being <crossref let="r" cid="c49002004.1"/>rich in mercy, <crossref let="s" cid="c49002004.2"/>because of the great love with which he loved us,</verse>

+    <verse num="5">even <crossref let="t" cid="c49002005.1"/>when we were dead in our trespasses, <crossref let="u" cid="c49002005.2"/>made us alive together with Christ&emdash;<crossref let="v" cid="c49002005.3"/>by grace you have been saved&emdash;</verse>

+    <verse num="6">and raised us up with him and <crossref let="w" cid="c49002006.1"/>seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,</verse>

+    <verse num="7">so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable <crossref let="x" cid="c49002007.1"/>riches of his grace in <crossref let="y" cid="c49002007.2"/>kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v49002008"/>
+    <verse num="8">For <crossref let="z" cid="c49002008.1"/>by grace you have been saved <crossref let="a" cid="c49002008.2"/>through faith. And this is <crossref let="b" cid="c49002008.3"/>not your own doing; <crossref let="c" cid="c49002008.4"/>it is the gift of God,</verse>

+    <verse num="9"><crossref let="d" cid="c49002009.1"/>not a result of works, <crossref let="e" cid="c49002009.2"/>so that no one may boast.</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v49002010"/>
+    <verse num="10">For <crossref let="f" cid="c49002010.1"/>we are his workmanship, <crossref let="g" cid="c49002010.2"/>created in Christ Jesus <crossref let="h" cid="c49002010.3"/>for good works, <crossref let="i" cid="c49002010.4"/>which God prepared beforehand, <crossref let="j" cid="c49002010.5"/>that we should walk in them.</verse>

+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v49002011"/>
+    <heading>One in Christ</heading>
+    <begin-paragraph/>
+    <verse num="11">Therefore remember that at one time you Gentiles in the flesh, called <q class="begin-double" qid="49002011.1" from="49002011.1" to="49002011.2"/>the uncircumcision<q class="end-double" qid="49002011.2" from="49002011.1" to="49002011.2"/> by what is called <crossref let="k" cid="c49002011.1"/>the circumcision, which is made in the flesh by hands&emdash;</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v49002012"/>
+    <verse num="12">remember <crossref let="l" cid="c49002012.1"/>that you were at that time separated from Christ, <crossref let="m" cid="c49002012.2"/>alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to <crossref let="n" cid="c49002012.3"/>the covenants of promise, <crossref let="o" cid="c49002012.4"/>having no hope and without God in the world.</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v49002013"/>
+    <verse num="13">But now in Christ Jesus you who once were <crossref let="p" cid="c49002013.1"/>far off have been brought near <crossref let="q" cid="c49002013.2"/>by the blood of Christ.</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v49002014"/>
+    <verse num="14">For <crossref let="r" cid="c49002014.1"/>he himself is our peace, <crossref let="s" cid="c49002014.2"/>who has made us both one and has broken down <crossref let="t" cid="c49002014.3"/>in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v49002015"/>
+    <verse num="15">by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in <crossref let="u" cid="c49002015.1"/>ordinances, that he might create in himself one <crossref let="v" cid="c49002015.2"/>new man in place of the two, so making peace,</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v49002016"/>
+    <verse num="16">and might <crossref let="w" cid="c49002016.1"/>reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility.</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v49002017"/>
+    <verse num="17">And he came and <crossref let="x" cid="c49002017.1"/>preached peace to you who were <crossref let="y" cid="c49002017.2"/>far off and peace to those who were <crossref let="z" cid="c49002017.3"/>near.</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v49002018"/>
+    <verse num="18">For <crossref let="a" cid="c49002018.1"/>through him we both have <crossref let="b" cid="c49002018.2"/>access in <crossref let="c" cid="c49002018.3"/>one Spirit to the Father.</verse>

+    <verse num="19">So then you are no longer <crossref let="d" cid="c49002019.1"/>strangers and aliens,<note nid="n49002019.1"/> but you are <crossref let="e" cid="c49002019.2"/>fellow citizens with the saints and <crossref let="f" cid="c49002019.3"/>members of the household of God,</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v49002020"/>
+    <verse num="20"><crossref let="g" cid="c49002020.1"/>built on the foundation of the <crossref let="h" cid="c49002020.2"/>apostles and prophets, <crossref let="i" cid="c49002020.3"/>Christ Jesus himself being <crossref let="j" cid="c49002020.4"/>the cornerstone,</verse>

+    <verse num="21"><crossref let="k" cid="c49002021.1"/>in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into <crossref let="l" cid="c49002021.2"/>a holy temple in the Lord.</verse>

+    <verse num="22">In him <crossref let="m" cid="c49002022.1"/>you also are being built together <crossref let="n" cid="c49002022.2"/>into a dwelling place for God by<note nid="n49002022.1"/> the Spirit.</verse>

+    <heading>The Mystery of the Gospel Revealed</heading>
+    <begin-paragraph/>
+    <verse num="1">For this reason I, Paul, <crossref let="o" cid="c49003001.1"/>a prisoner of Christ Jesus <crossref let="p" cid="c49003001.2"/>on behalf of you Gentiles&emdash;</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v49003002"/>
+    <verse num="2">assuming that you have heard of <crossref let="q" cid="c49003002.1"/>the stewardship of <crossref let="r" cid="c49003002.2"/>God&apos;s grace that was given to me for you,</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v49003003"/>
+    <verse num="3"><crossref let="s" cid="c49003003.1"/>how the mystery was made known to me <crossref let="t" cid="c49003003.2"/>by revelation, <crossref let="u" cid="c49003003.3"/>as I have written briefly.</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v49003004"/>
+    <verse num="4"><crossref let="v" cid="c49003004.1"/>When you read this, you can perceive my insight into <crossref let="w" cid="c49003004.2"/>the mystery of Christ,</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v49003005"/>
+    <verse num="5">which was not made known to the sons of men in other generations as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit.</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v49003006"/>
+    <verse num="6">This mystery is<note nid="n49003006.1"/> that the Gentiles are <crossref let="x" cid="c49003006.1"/>fellow heirs, <crossref let="y" cid="c49003006.2"/>members of the same body, and <crossref let="z" cid="c49003006.3"/>partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.</verse>

+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v49003007"/>
+    <begin-paragraph/>
+    <verse num="7"><crossref let="a" cid="c49003007.1"/>Of this gospel I was made <crossref let="b" cid="c49003007.2"/>a minister according to the gift of <crossref let="c" cid="c49003007.3"/>God&apos;s grace, which was given me <crossref let="d" cid="c49003007.4"/>by the working of his power.</verse>

+    <verse num="8">To me, <crossref let="e" cid="c49003008.1"/>though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, <crossref let="f" cid="c49003008.2"/>to preach to the Gentiles the <crossref let="g" cid="c49003008.3"/>unsearchable <crossref let="h" cid="c49003008.4"/>riches of Christ,</verse>

+    <verse num="10">so that through the church the manifold <crossref let="l" cid="c49003010.1"/>wisdom of God <crossref let="m" cid="c49003010.2"/>might now be made known to <crossref let="n" cid="c49003010.3"/>the rulers and authorities <crossref let="o" cid="c49003010.4"/>in the heavenly places.</verse>

+    <verse num="11">This was <crossref let="p" cid="c49003011.1"/>according to the eternal purpose that he has realized in Christ Jesus our Lord,</verse>

+    <verse num="12">in whom we have <crossref let="q" cid="c49003012.1"/>boldness and <crossref let="r" cid="c49003012.2"/>access with <crossref let="s" cid="c49003012.3"/>confidence through our <crossref let="t" cid="c49003012.4"/>faith in him.</verse>

+    <verse num="13">So I ask you not to lose heart over what I am suffering <crossref let="u" cid="c49003013.1"/>for you, <crossref let="v" cid="c49003013.2"/>which is your glory.</verse>

+    <heading>Prayer for Spiritual Strength</heading>
+    <begin-paragraph/>
+    <verse num="14">For this reason I bow my knees before the Father,</verse>

+    <verse num="15">from whom <crossref let="w" cid="c49003015.1"/>every family<note nid="n49003015.1"/> in heaven and on earth is named,</verse>
+    <marker class="begin-verse" mid="v49003016"/>
+    <verse num="16">that according to <crossref let="x" cid="c49003016.1"/>the riches of his glory <crossref let="y" cid="c49003016.2"/>he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit <crossref let="z" cid="c49003016.3"/>in your inner being,</verse>

+    <verse num="19">and to know the love of Christ <crossref let="f" cid="c49003019.1"/>that surpasses knowledge, that <crossref let="g" cid="c49003019.2"/>you may be filled with all <crossref let="h" cid="c49003019.3"/>the fullness of God.</verse>

+    <heading>Unity in the Body of Christ</heading>
+    <begin-paragraph/>
+    <verse num="1">I therefore, <crossref let="m" cid="c49004001.1"/>a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to <crossref let="n" cid="c49004001.2"/>walk in a manner worthy of <crossref let="o" cid="c49004001.3"/>the calling to which you have been called,</verse>

+    <verse num="2">with all <crossref let="p" cid="c49004002.1"/>humility and <crossref let="q" cid="c49004002.2"/>gentleness, with <crossref let="r" cid="c49004002.3"/>patience, <crossref let="s" cid="c49004002.4"/>bearing with one another in love,</verse>

+    <verse num="3">eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in <crossref let="t" cid="c49004003.1"/>the bond of peace.</verse>

+    <heading>The New Life</heading>

+    <heading>Walk in Love</heading>

+    <heading>Wives and Husbands</heading>
