+## CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
+
+**Adult CPR (for someone unresponsive and not breathing normally):**

+1. **Check scene safety** — is it safe to approach?
+2. **Check responsiveness** — tap shoulders, shout "Are you OK?"
+3. **Call for help** — Call 911, send someone for AED
+4. **Start compressions:**
+   - Place heel of hand on center of chest (lower half of breastbone)

+## Choking
+
+**Adult/child choking (can cough but making high-pitched noise or can't cough):**

+1. Encourage forceful coughing
+2. If can't dislodge: give 5 back blows between shoulder blades with heel of hand
+3. 5 abdominal thrusts (Heimlich):
+   - Stand behind person
+   - Make fist, thumb side against abdomen just above navel
+   - Cover with other hand
+   - Thrust inward and upward
+4. Alternate 5 back blows + 5 abdominal thrusts until object dislodges or person loses consciousness
+5. If loses consciousness: lower to ground, call 911, start CPR
+
+**Infant choking:**
+5 back blows face-down across your forearm, then
+5 chest thrusts (2 fingers on breastbone, same position as CPR)
+Never do abdominal thrusts on infants.
+
+**Self-choking:** Make fist against your own abdomen, thrust upward. Or use a chair back.
+

+## Bleeding control
+
+**Direct pressure:**
+
+1. Apply firm, continuous pressure using cloth/gauze
+2. Do NOT remove cloth — add more on top if soaked through
+3. Press for 10-15 minutes minimum (blood takes time to clot)
+4. Elevate injured area above heart level if possible and if no fracture suspected
+5. For serious wounds: maintain pressure until medical help arrives
+
+**Tourniquets (only for severe limb bleeding that won't stop):**
+Apply 2-3 inches above wound (not over joint).
+Tighten until bleeding stops.
+Note the time of application (tell medical personnel).
+Do NOT remove once applied.
+
+**Wound cleaning (for minor wounds):**
+
+1. Apply pressure to stop bleeding
+2. Clean with clean running water for 5+ minutes
+3. Apply antibiotic ointment if available
+4. Cover with clean bandage

+Chemical burns: flush with large amounts of water for 20+ minutes. Remove contaminated clothing. Don't try to neutralize.

+## Fractures and sprains
+
+**RICE for sprains:**

+- Rest: stop using the injured area
+- Ice: 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off. Never directly on skin (towel between)
+- Compression: elastic bandage (not too tight — check circulation)
+- Elevation: above heart level to reduce swelling
+
+**Signs that suggest fracture (go to ER):**
+
+- Visible deformity or abnormal position
+- Severe swelling and bruising
+- Can't bear weight
+- Bone visible through skin (open fracture = emergency)
+- Numbness or tingling
+
+**Splinting a suspected fracture (if evacuation delayed):**
+Splint in the position found — don't try to straighten.
+Support above and below the injury.
+Check circulation, sensation, movement before and after splinting.

+Signs: hives, throat tightening, difficulty breathing, swelling of lips/tongue/throat, dizziness, nausea/vomiting.

+3. Lay person down, elevate legs (unless breathing difficulty — then sit up)
+4. Second dose of epinephrine if symptoms return after 5-15 minutes and help hasn't arrived
