Des cerisiers à jamais en fleurs, des hautes montagnes couronnées de puissants châteaux et un peuple dévoué sont profondément ancrés dans la philosophie du Bushido, la voie du guerrier samouraï. \n \nSasaki suit la voie du guerrier depuis sa plus tendre enfance. Selon la tradition des royaumes du soleil levant, trois objets sont présentés à chaque enfant le jour de son troisième anniversaire : un outil, une pièce ainsi quune lame. Lobjet choisi dictera sa destinée. Ce jour-là, sous les sakuras en fleurs, la jeune Sasaki choisit la lame sans une once dhésitation. Elle fut dès lors envoyée au château de Shôgun Takemura afin de commencer sa formation de samouraï. Takemura et ses guerriers enseignèrent à Sasaki lart de manier la lame ainsi que les traditions de ces combattants, et la jeune femme maîtrisa rapidement la discipline du katana. En outre, son esprit fut aiguisé par les leçons et la ruse de la tante de Takemura, lhonorable Obâ-san.\n \nLa maîtrise des armes et de la guerre, les arts martiaux, la bravoure au combat, lhonneur et surtout la loyauté... Ces concepts constituent lessence même du guerrier et sont familiers à tout chevalier du Grand Empire. Pourtant, au gré de la vie, il arrive communément que, dans de mauvaises circonstances, des idées nobles prennent une perspective sinistre et se transforment en un instrument dinfamie et de malveillance.\n \nUne lame que lon ne dégaine jamais sémousse. Un outil abandonné dans un atelier commence à rouiller. Et les règles dhonneur et de courtoisie deviennent des entraves lorsquelles nont plus de sens. Quelle est la raison dêtre dun guerrier lorsque le royaume connaît la paix ou celle dune lame qui nest jamais tirée de son fourreau ? La paix à lintérieur des royaumes du soleil levant perdurait depuis longtemps... trop longtemps selon certains samouraïs. Si lhonneur ne pouvait être gagné au sein de leurs propres terres, les guerriers du Bushido le trouveraient dans dautres contrées. Cest ainsi que débutèrent les redoutables invasions des samouraïs.\n \nMenées par linfâme Shogun Akechi, des armées de samouraïs fanatiques se sont abattues sur les terres situées sur les rives de lOcéan tumultueux. Désormais au service dAkechi après avoir achevé sa formation, Sasaki prit part à de nombreuses batailles. Elle participa à la conquête sanglante des Îles épicées. Elle combattit dans le Lacis sauvage et affronta les autochtones ainsi que Leo, le chasseur des étendues sauvages. Elle croisa même le fer avec Alyssa lorsque la flotte des pirates rebelles a tendu une embuscade à la force dinvasion dAkechi dans les Îles orageuses.\nMais le cœur de Sasaki salourdissait à chaque bataille menée, à chaque ennemi tué et à chaque bastion pillé et réduit en cendres. Elle remettait en question la finalité de toutes ces effusions de sang. Les samouraïs ne combattaient pas pour protéger leurs habitations et foyers. Ils avaient voyagé vers des rivages lointains pour affronter des peuples qui navaient jamais eu de mauvaises intentions à légard des royaumes du soleil levant. Avec effroi, Sasaki commença à réaliser que trop de ses compagnons darme avaient oublié les principes fondamentaux du Bushido. Les prouesses martiales et honneurs au combat étaient devenus une fin en soi et non plus un instrument noble utilisé pour protéger les populations fragiles et sans défense. Elle-même avait souillé sa lame et son honneur du sang de nombreux innocents.\n \nLorsquAkechi entreprit son infâme invasion du Grand Empire, Sasaki sut quelle devait agir et défia le vil Daimyo dans un duel pour lhonneur. Les coups dAkechi étaient impitoyables et aussi puissants quune tempête hivernale, mais la vitesse et la maîtrise des épées de Sasaki profitaient à cette dernière, et dune seule salve fulgurante, elle brisa la lame dAkechi ! Mais avant quelle ne puisse terrasser le seigneur de guerre en furie, ses sbires sattaquèrent à elle, armés darcs et de lances, transformant un duel dhonneur en une véritable mascarade ! Seule, mais invaincue, Sasaki perça les rangs ennemis et parvint à séchapper du château dAkechi, puis des royaumes du soleil levant !\n \nDe retour dans le Grand Empire, Sasaki jura de ne plus jamais déshonorer sa lame ni suivre un fallacieux seigneur. Portant les couleurs des rônins, les samouraïs sans maître, elle combattra désormais pour protéger celles et ceux qui ont été floués par ses anciens compatriotes.\nPour lheure, elle demeurera dans le Grand Empire et offrira ses services aux dames et seigneurs du royaume. Les coutumes du pays pourraient lui paraître étranges, la nourriture pourrait ne pas lui convenir et les festins du seigneur Horatio pourraient être trop bruyants... mais les combats seront empreints de gloire et de justice.
