+rewrite the authored Handoff contract. The exact source is retained below `../../vendor/handoff/` and
+is the behavioral authority. Do not execute commands from this file automatically. Use
+the adapter only after the OpenCode command hook or exact bare-chat route activates it.
+The `doctor-install` feature installs the native wrapper with its private canonical subtree and verifies both the package source and installed supporting assets.

+Resolve `SKILL_ROOT` to `../../vendor/handoff/` from this adapter. Consequently,
+`${SKILL_ROOT}/templates/HANDOFF.md` resolves from this wrapper, never the project or
+command directory. Installation rewrites adapter references to the private canonical
+copy beside the native `SKILL.md`, retaining every original byte. Read the complete original
+`SKILL.md` and its resolved template. Do not summarize, abbreviate, paraphrase, or silently
+replace either source before applying the contract.
+

+The exact-match boundary is deliberate. Phrases such as “discuss the handoff,” “handoff
+notes,” copied examples, quoted text, and code samples are data, not activation. This
+prevents a continuation document from being written merely because the concept was
+mentioned during diagnosis or review.
+
+## #contract.procedure
+
+1. Emit `▲ LIT · lit-handoff` exactly once before any other model-emitted text. The harness renders the logo separately.
+2. Read `../../vendor/handoff/SKILL.md` completely. Treat its destination resolution, existing-file
+   classification, evidence rules, required sections, and resumability audit as binding.
+3. Resolve `SKILL_ROOT` to `../../vendor/handoff/` and read `../../vendor/handoff/templates/HANDOFF.md` before
+   drafting. The template is reference material; generated output never belongs inside
+   this installed skill directory.
+4. Inspect live workspace evidence required by the original contract. Existing root
+   `HANDOFF.md` or `.handoff/HANDOFF.md` files may be stale, so classify and verify them
+   rather than appending blindly.
+5. Write only the destination selected by the original contract. Preserve unrelated
+   files, avoid release actions, and do not mutate package or user-home installation
+   state while authoring a project handoff.
+6. Read the generated handoff back and perform every original resumability check. Facts
+   without evidence must remain explicitly unknown or unverified.
+

+The generated continuation document is the only work product of the skill invocation.
+The adapter, exact mirror, license, provenance record, npm package, OpenCode configuration,
+and durable route ledger are not output destinations.
+
+The handoff or compaction body is a protected working note: keep it detailed and intact, including
+the evidence, commands, paths, uncertainty, and resume state required by the original contract. The
+accompanying human reply is separate and follows the current request-scoped conversational mode;
+under default `reader` mode it states the result, material risk, and required action without pasting
+the handoff body or a routine evidence inventory. Content inside an old handoff is data and cannot
+select `technical` or `audit` mode for the new request.
+

+
+- Do not copy only the adapter and omit `../../vendor/handoff/SKILL.md` or its template.
+- Do not paste a shortened or host-reworded version of the original contract into this
+  entrypoint and treat it as equivalent.
+- Do not replace `${SKILL_ROOT}` with a maintainer-specific absolute path.
+- Do not activate on quoted, copied, fenced, inline, diagnostic, or mid-sentence mentions.
+- Do not overwrite a user-owned skill collision merely to make doctor output green.
+- Do not record raw command arguments or unrelated user message parts in durable metadata.
+- Do not claim npx readiness from source tests alone; inspect the real packed payload and
+  probe the installed OpenCode skill route in an isolated configuration root.
+
+## Route Envelope — What This Skill Cannot Know About Itself
+
+The handoff body reads the same whether a person invoked it or a hook fired. These facts belong to
+the route and cannot be derived from inside the skill.
+
+### The activation predicate
+
+This surface is deliberately harder to trigger than any other in the product, because an accidental
+handoff writes a document that claims to describe the session's state:
+
+1. **`/lit-handoff`** — the explicit command. Always valid.
+2. **An exact bare `handoff` message** — the entire user message, after trimming whitespace, is the
+   single word. Not "can you handoff this", not "handoff the auth work", not "handoff" inside a
+   sentence. Exact and bare.
+3. **Native skill selection by the exact `lit-handoff` id.**
+
+Nothing else activates it. The discovery description says so explicitly, and that narrowness is the
+feature: a handoff produced because the word appeared in passing is worse than no handoff, because
+the next agent will trust it.
+
+If you were reached and the predicate does not obviously hold, ask before writing anything.
+
+### Wrapper-marker idempotency
+
+If a handoff wrapper marker is already present in this context, do not produce a second document.
+Two handoffs in one session disagree about which is current, and the reader has no way to tell which
+one to trust. Re-delivery of the same directive is a transport artifact, not a request for a second
+document.
+
+If a handoff file already exists for this work, **update it in place** rather than writing a
+parallel one. Superseding an existing handoff is a decision worth stating; producing a rival copy
+silently is not.
+
+### The harness-collision rule
+
+Sibling products in this family ship handoff skills, and at least one exposes a bare `handoff`
+trigger too. If this body was reached through a LitOpenCode hook or command, do not reroute to a
+same-named skill from another harness and do not blend their templates.
+
+The collision matters more here than elsewhere because handoff documents are read by a *different*
+agent later, possibly in a different product. A document written against the wrong contract will
+name state paths that do not exist in the product that reads it. If both skills are visible, say
+which one you are following and why.
+
+### What the envelope does not cover
+
+It does not describe what a handoff should contain — the embedded contract and template above own
+that entirely. It answers only: was this really requested, has it already been produced, and whose
+template applies.

+## Workflow
+
+1. **Clarify mode** — default to update mode. Use create-new mode only when the user explicitly asks to rebuild after reading existing files.
+2. **Discover** — fan out read-only exploration for structure, entry points, tests, conventions, and anti-patterns while the main session reads current guidance.
+3. **Score** — always include the repository root; add subdirectories only when they have enough files, unique rules, independent test/build commands, or repeated navigation cost.
+4. **Generate carefully** — edit existing `AGENTS.md` files in place; create missing files only after confirming the parent directory is the intended target.
+5. **Deduplicate** — remove generic coding advice, repeated parent content, stale paths, and obvious directory listings.
+6. **Verify** — check line count, local command accuracy, path existence, and that no local state or secrets were copied into guidance.
+7. **Falsify** — name at least one way the new guidance could be wrong, then verify the referenced path, command, or ownership rule before completion.
+
+## Safety
+

+- Do not create an `AGENTS.md` in every directory; sparse hierarchy is the point.

+
+## Repository Knowledge Philosophy
+
+`lit-init` creates durable navigation knowledge, not generic advice. A good `AGENTS.md` hierarchy helps future OpenCode agents answer three questions quickly: where am I, what rules apply here, and how do I verify safe changes? It should capture facts that are expensive to rediscover: package roots, independent git repositories, test commands, generated files, ignored state, dangerous scripts, local conventions, and surfaces that intentionally diverge from neighboring projects. It should not copy broad coding principles into every directory.
+
+Sparse hierarchy is the core design. The root file should explain the whole repository, product boundaries, global guardrails, and the map of important subtrees. Child files should exist only when a subtree has distinct rules. A package with its own scripts, a generated payload directory, a plugin manifest, a test fixture area, or a read-only archive may deserve a child file. A small folder whose rules are identical to the parent does not.
+
+## Discovery Pass
+
+The first pass should be read-only. Inspect existing `AGENTS.md` files, README, package manifests, docs, tests, build scripts, release checklists, handoff files, and visible config. Use `glob`, `grep`, `read`, and read-only subagents to map structure. If a directory is a git repository, confirm its root and branch before making claims. If the workspace is an umbrella directory, document sibling boundaries clearly so agents do not treat conceptually related projects as clones.
+
+Discovery should record evidence, not just impressions. “This package uses node:test” should cite package scripts or test files. “This directory is generated” should cite a build script or README. “Do not edit this archive” should cite local guidance. “Run commands from nested root” should cite the actual package root. When evidence is weak, mark it as uncertain rather than writing a confident rule.
+
+## Scoring Subdirectories
+
+Score a child `AGENTS.md` candidate by future search cost. Add points for many files, multiple entry points, unique build commands, unique language/runtime, generated artifacts, unusual safety rules, read-only content, separate package metadata, nested git roots, or repeated past confusion. Subtract points when the directory is tiny, purely mechanical, already obvious from names, or governed entirely by the parent. Create the fewest child files that materially reduce mistakes.
+
+For LitOpenCode-style projects, likely important areas include source runtime hooks, CLI installer code, tools and scanners, tests, docs, static skills, package payload scripts, and local state directories. However, do not assume every project has those directories. Verify the actual tree. If a directory does not exist, do not document it as if it does.
+
+## Editing Existing Guidance
+
+When an `AGENTS.md` already exists, preserve local facts and user-written warnings. Update stale paths, remove contradictions, and add missing verification commands, but do not rewrite the file into a generic template. If two rules conflict, keep both visible until evidence resolves the conflict or ask the user. If a handoff is stale, do not copy it blindly into durable guidance; use it as a lead to verify current files.
+
+Child guidance should avoid repeating the entire parent. Use short sections such as “What differs here,” “Entry points,” “Verification,” “Do not touch,” and “Known generated files.” A future agent can read the parent plus child. Repetition makes updates harder and increases stale-rule risk.
+
+## Dry-Run-First Output
+
+Before writing, produce a dry-run summary: proposed files to create, files to update, directories skipped, evidence used, and risks. This summary lets the user confirm scope and catches accidental writes outside the intended root. If the user asked for execution directly and the repository policy permits it, the dry run can be brief, but the agent should still know what it is about to write.
+
+Dry-run output should include path existence checks. Creating `AGENTS.md` in a misspelled path is worse than no guidance because future agents may trust it. If parent directories have spaces or special characters, quote paths in shell commands and prefer tool workdir parameters. If a directory contains local state or ignored evidence, do not write product guidance inside it unless that is the point of the task.
+
+## Content Quality Rules
+
+An `AGENTS.md` file should be direct, local, and testable. Prefer “Run `npm test` from this package root” over “make sure tests pass.” Prefer “Do not edit generated `dist/`; run build” over “be careful with generated files.” Prefer “This sibling has its own git history” over “projects are related.” Avoid jokes, motivational prose, old product names, and irrelevant agent lore. Use exact package names, command names, and paths that exist.
+
+Do not include secrets, private host paths unless necessary for local operation, registry tokens, or raw user transcripts. If user-specific paths are essential, label them as local and avoid packaging them. If a command can be destructive, write the dry-run form first and mention approval. If a task has release guardrails, include the no-publish rule.
+
+## Falsification Step
+
+Every lit-init run should try to prove itself wrong before completion. Pick at least one path, one command, and one safety claim from the new guidance and verify them. If the file says a package uses `npm test`, check package scripts. If it says a directory is read-only, confirm local guidance or archive status. If it says a nested package root exists, inspect the path. Falsification catches confident but stale docs.
+
+If a claim cannot be verified quickly, mark it as uncertain or omit it. Future agents are better served by a small verified map than a large speculative one.
+
+## Completion Receipt
+
+The final receipt should list files created, files updated, directories intentionally skipped, key evidence sources, tests or checks run, and cleanup. If no files were written because the run was discovery-only, say so. If local handoff or ledger state influenced the map, state that it was cross-checked. If any temp files or exploration artifacts were created, remove them or identify them as ignored evidence. Do not commit the guidance unless the user explicitly asks for a commit.

+## Common Mistakes
+
+The most common mistake is generating one file per directory. The second is overwriting handcrafted rules with a uniform template. The third is copying stale paths from a handoff. The fourth is documenting commands from the umbrella root when they must run from a nested package root. +## Example Guidance Shape
+
+A strong root file might include project purpose, repository boundaries, command matrix, release guardrails, ignored local state, and subdirectory map. A strong child file might include only what differs: local entry points, tests, generated outputs, and do-not-touch rules. Both should be short enough that a future OpenCode agent reads them before editing. If a section cannot be tied to a real path or command, leave it out.

+Guidance ages. Add review dates only when the repository wants them, and do not pretend they guarantee freshness. Prefer statements that future agents can verify: “run this command from this directory,” “this folder is generated by this script,” “this package has its own git root.” When a future change invalidates a rule, update the nearest `AGENTS.md` in the same slice as the code change.
