+Divide complex tasks from `tasks.md` into atomic, single-file microtasks for granular tracking and implementation.

+## ⚠️ CRITICAL: When to Use This Skill
+
+### Use microtask-decomposition when:
+- A single task from `tasks.md` affects **3+ files**
+- A task requires **multiple distinct logic blocks**
+- You need to **parallelize sub-task execution**
+- A task is estimated at **>2 hours** of work
+- The task has **internal dependencies** that can be sequenced
+
+### Do NOT use when:
+- Creating initial tasks (use `openspec-new-change` or `openspec-ff-change`)
+- Task affects only 1-2 files (implement directly)
+- Task is simple and straightforward
+

+
+### Step 1: Identify the Complex Task
+
+Select ONE task from `tasks.md` that meets decomposition criteria:

+- [ ] Has internal sequential dependencies
+
+**Example complex task:**

+
+Break down the task into its atomic operations:
+
+1. **List all files touched**
+2. **List all functions/methods needed**
+3. **Identify data flow between components**
+4. **Mark dependencies** (what must happen before what)
+
+### Step 3: Create Microtasks
+
+Each microtask must be:
+- **Single file** (or 1-2 closely related files)
+- **Single purpose** (one function or cohesive set)
+- **Independently testable**
+- **< 1 hour** estimated effort
+- **Clear completion criteria**
+

+

+**Steps**
+
+1. **Verify project initialization**
+
+   Check if the project is initialized:
+   ```bash

+

+

+   **If any artifacts are not `done`:**
+   - Display warning listing incomplete artifacts
+   - Use **AskUserQuestion tool** to confirm user wants to proceed
+   - Proceed if user confirms
+
+4. **Check task completion status**
+
+   Read the tasks file (typically `tasks.md`) to check for incomplete tasks.
+
+   Count tasks marked with `- [ ]` (incomplete) vs `- [x]` (complete).
+
+   **If incomplete tasks found:**
+   - Display warning showing count of incomplete tasks
+   - Use **AskUserQuestion tool** to confirm user wants to proceed
+   - Proceed if user confirms
+
+   **If no tasks file exists:** Proceed without task-related warning.
+
+5. **Assess delta spec sync state**
+
+   Check for delta specs at `openspec/changes/<name>/specs/`. If none exist, proceed without sync prompt.
+
+   **If delta specs exist:**
+   - Compare each delta spec with its corresponding main spec at `openspec/specs/<capability>/spec.md`
+   - Determine what changes would be applied (adds, modifications, removals, renames)
+   - Show a combined summary before prompting
+
+   **Prompt options:**
+   - If changes needed: "Sync now (recommended)", "Archive without syncing"
+   - If already synced: "Archive now", "Sync anyway", "Cancel"
+
+   If user chooses sync, execute /opsx:sync logic (use the openspec-sync-specs skill). Proceed to archive regardless of choice.
+
+6. **Perform the archive**
+
+   Create the archive directory if it doesn't exist:
+   ```bash

+   ```
+
+   Generate target name using current date: `YYYY-MM-DD-<change-name>`
+
+   **Check if target already exists:**
+   - If yes: Fail with error, suggest renaming existing archive or using different date
+   - If no: Move the change directory to archive

+
