74
+ **Run coding agents like Claude Code in isolated, policy-enforced cloud sandboxes.**
75
+
76
+ `droneship` is a CLI for the hosted Highflame control plane. You sign in, launch
77
+ an agent in an isolated sandbox, and never put cloud-provider credentials on
78
+ your laptop. Runs on macOS and Linux.
79
+
80
+ ## Install
81
+
82
+ ```bash
83
+ curl -fsSL https://droneship.run/install | sh
84
+ ```
85
+
86
+ The installer uses [uv](https://docs.astral.sh/uv/) (and installs it if it is
87
+ missing) to put the `droneship` binary on your PATH, usually `~/.local/bin`.
88
+ If the next prompt says `command not found`, add the line the installer
89
+ printed, or:
90
+
91
+ ```bash
92
+ export PATH="$HOME/.local/bin:$PATH"
93
+ ```
94
+
95
+ ### Updates
96
+
97
+ `droneship` checks droneship.run for a newer release at most once an hour. When
98
+ there is one, it installs it and runs your command on the new version. Set
99
+ `DRONESHIP_NO_AUTO_UPDATE=1` to turn this off, and run `droneship update` to
100
+ update right away.
101
+
102
+ ## First run
103
+
104
+ ```bash
105
+ droneship login
106
+ droneship connect
107
+ droneship run claude
108
+ ```
109
+
110
+ 1. `droneship login` opens a browser and stores credentials for this machine.
111
+ Account and project are fixed at sign-in; switch project by signing in
112
+ again with `--project NAME`.
113
+ 2. `droneship connect` authorizes GitHub so private repos clone. Skip it for
114
+ public repos — `droneship run claude` will also prompt the first time it meets a
115
+ private repo, and again if the connection lapses. `--force` replaces a
116
+ stored connection.
117
+ 3. `droneship run claude` starts Claude Code in a sandbox with a fresh clone of
118
+ this repo's `origin` at your current branch (unless you pass `--repo` /
119
+ `--ref`), or reattaches to the one already running for this repo (another
120
+ repo's sandbox is never reattached; `--id` names one). Push first: uncommitted
121
+ work and unpushed commits are not copied, and the CLI says so when you have
122
+ either. `--new` starts another alongside it. A saved workspace resumes on
123
+ your branch when its tree is clean; with uncommitted work it stays on the
124
+ branch it was left on, and the CLI says which.
125
+
126
+ ```bash
127
+ cd ~/src/my-repo
128
+ droneship run claude
129
+ droneship resume claude # pick up a previous conversation
130
+ ```
131
+
132
+ Arguments after `droneship run claude` are passed through to `claude`. Put `--` first
133
+ for any that droneship would otherwise read as its own.
134
+
135
+ In a sandbox Claude doesn't ask permission for each command; the sandbox is the boundary. `--ask` restores the prompts.
136
+
137
+ Claude runs inside the sandbox's tmux session, so it survives a dropped connection: detach on purpose with `~.` (ssh's escape, at the start of a line) and `droneship run claude` reattaches to the same agent. `run claude` exits with tmux's status, not Claude's. tmux has mouse mode on, so a drag selects inside tmux; hold Shift while dragging to select with your terminal instead.
138
+
139
+ On a machine with no browser (typically SSH into a dev box):
140
+
141
+ ```bash
142
+ droneship login --headless
143
+ ```
144
+
145
+ ### Credentials stay out of the sandbox
146
+
147
+ When Claude Code runs on Modal through the Highflame gateway (not `--direct`),
148
+ the container it runs in holds no gateway key, MCP token or GitHub token. A
149
+ separate sidecar injects them on the way out, and the GitHub token can only be
150
+ used for this sandbox's repo. Private repos get the same KERNEL isolation as
151
+ public ones, except with subscription sign-in.
152
+
153
+ ## Commands
154
+
155
+ `droneship --help` lists every command.
156
+
157
+ ### Account
158
+
159
+ ```bash
160
+ droneship login # sign in through your browser
161
+ droneship login --headless # print a code to approve from another device
162
+ droneship login --project NAME # sign in to this project (name, slug, or id)
163
+ droneship logout # discard this profile's stored credentials
164
+ droneship whoami # identity, project, and which control plane
165
+ droneship connect # GitHub, so private repos work
166
+ ```
167
+
168
+ ### Sandboxes
169
+
170
+ ```bash
171
+ droneship run claude # Claude Code; reattaches if one is running
172
+ droneship run claude --new # another sandbox, alongside the first
173
+ droneship run claude --id ID # attach to a specific sandbox
174
+ droneship run claude --fresh # discard this repo's saved workspace first
175
+ droneship run claude --ephemeral # save nothing when the sandbox goes
176
+ droneship run claude -L 3000 # forward a sandbox port while you work
177
+ droneship run claude -p "<prompt>" -d # run one prompt in the background
178
+ droneship resume claude # pick up a previous conversation
179
+ droneship resume claude ID # continue a stopped prompt run
180
+ droneship shell # interactive shell (your only sandbox)
181
+ droneship shell --id ID pwd # one-off remote command
182
+ droneship shell -L 3000 # forward a sandbox port to this machine
183
+ droneship list # running sandboxes, with repo@branch (-v: every column)
184
+ droneship list -a # include stopped ones you can resume
185
+ droneship logs [-f] ID # its output, live or saved
186
+ droneship kill ID # shut one down; its saved workspace stays
187
+ droneship diff [--stat] # what the agent changed: commits + uncommitted work
188
+ droneship pull # fetch it into a local branch, droneship/<branch>
189
+ droneship pr # push the sandbox's branch and open a PR
190
+ droneship workspace list [-v] # saved workspaces (outlive the sandbox); -v adds Name
191
+ droneship workspace delete [NAME] # permanently delete a saved workspace (this repo's when omitted)
192
+ ```
193
+
194
+ `list` fits its columns to the terminal; scripts should read `droneship list --json`.
195
+
196
+ The agent's work comes back through git. Run these in your checkout of the
197
+ repo. `droneship diff` shows everything that isn't on GitHub yet: the sandbox's
198
+ commits since `origin/<branch>` (or `--base REF`), plus its uncommitted and
199
+ untracked files. On a terminal it opens in your pager, and
200
+ `droneship diff > x.patch` gives a plain patch. `droneship pull` fetches the
201
+ same work into the local branch `droneship/<branch>`, with any uncommitted
202
+ changes as one extra commit. It never touches your working tree or current
203
+ branch. Review with `git log`, then `git merge --ff-only droneship/<branch>`.
204
+ If you have committed on `droneship/<branch>` yourself, a later pull refuses
205
+ to replace it unless you pass `--force`.
206
+ `droneship pr` pushes the sandbox's branch from inside the sandbox. It refuses
207
+ if there are uncommitted changes or the branch is the default one. It then
208
+ opens the PR with your local `gh` if that is signed in, or prints GitHub's
209
+ compare page and opens it in your browser.
210
+
211
+ Prompt runs (`-p`) are one-off Claude Code tasks in a new sandbox that shuts down when done. Without `-d`, the CLI streams output and exits with the agent's exit code; with `-d`, it detaches (Ctrl-C also detaches without stopping the run). Stopped runs stay in `droneship list -a` for 7 days, as long as the snapshot exists, and can be resumed via `droneship resume claude ID`. Each prompt run gets a fresh clone of the current repo at the current branch (uncommitted local changes are not included) and never uses your saved workspace, so it can run while you work in your own sandbox on the same repo; to keep its changes, resume it and push. Prompt runs get no MCP tools yet. Modal backend only. Billed key-free through the AI gateway or with your own key (`--byok`); not with `--subscription` or `--direct`. A resumed run keeps the run's egress policy, isolation and time limit, and bills key-free (`--byok` keys are never stored). The model credential lives in a separate sidecar container, so the agent and its snapshot never hold it. A private repo's GitHub token is the exception: the agent needs it to push, so it stays in the sandbox. `droneship kill ID` on a stopped run deletes it and its snapshot; if the snapshot can't be deleted, it expires within 7 days.
212
+
213
+ Other agents wired today:
214
+
215
+ ```bash
216
+ droneship run codex
217
+ droneship run python --entrypoint agent.py
218
+ droneship run langgraph
219
+ ```
220
+
221
+ `python` and `langgraph` run **your** agent. The repo comes from your
222
+ checkout, its dependencies are installed at boot, and inference is governed
223
+ the same way as every other harness — with no Highflame-specific code in it.
224
+
225
+ See `droneship run --help` for the full agent list, egress bundles
226
+ (`--policy-bundle`), isolation floor (`--isolation`), and billing flags
227
+ (`--subscription`, `--byok`, `--key-free`, `--direct`). Names that are not
228
+ wired yet fail rather than provision a broken sandbox.
229
+
230
+ ## Configuration
231
+
232
+ The CLI talks HTTPS to the control plane. It does not take cloud-provider
233
+ credentials. Optional overrides:
234
+
235
+ ```bash
236
+ # Which stored login to use (also: droneship --profile NAME …)
237
+ DRONESHIP_PROFILE=default
238
+
239
+ # Set at login if you are not on the default deployment (api.highflame.ai)
240
+ DRONESHIP_API_URL=https://api-dev.highflame.dev
241
+ DRONESHIP_AUTH_URL=https://studio-dev.highflame.dev
242
+ ```
243
+
244
+ `--api-url` and `--auth-url` live on `droneship login` only. Switching
245
+ deployments is a re-login, so a token minted against one environment is never
246
+ sent to another.
247
+
248
+ ## Development
249
+
250
+ ```bash
251
+ git clone https://github.com/highflame-ai/highflame-forge.git

253
+ uv sync --extra dev
254

+ TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR USE, REPRODUCTION, AND DISTRIBUTION
6
+
7
+ 1. Definitions.
8
+
9
+ "License" shall mean the terms and conditions for use, reproduction,
10
+ and distribution as defined by Sections 1 through 9 of this document.
11
+
12
+ "Licensor" shall mean the copyright owner or entity authorized by
13
+ the copyright owner that is granting the License.
14
+
15
+ "Legal Entity" shall mean the union of the acting entity and all
16
+ other entities that control, are controlled by, or are under common
17
+ control with that entity. For the purposes of this definition,
18
+ "control" means (i) the power, direct or indirect, to cause the
19
+ direction or management of such entity, whether by contract or
20
+ otherwise, or (ii) ownership of fifty percent (50%) or more of the
21
+ outstanding shares, or (iii) beneficial ownership of such entity.
22
+
23
+ "You" (or "Your") shall mean an individual or Legal Entity
24
+ exercising permissions granted by this License.
25
+
26
+ "Source" form shall mean the preferred form for making modifications,
27
+ including but not limited to software source code, documentation
28
+ source, and configuration files.
29
+
30
+ "Object" form shall mean any form resulting from mechanical
31
+ transformation or translation of a Source form, including but
32
+ not limited to compiled object code, generated documentation,
33
+ and conversions to other media types.
34
+
35
+ "Work" shall mean the work of authorship, whether in Source or
36
+ Object form, made available under the License, as indicated by a
37
+ copyright notice that is included in or attached to the work
38
+ (an example is provided in the Appendix below).
39
+
40
+ "Derivative Works" shall mean any work, whether in Source or Object
41
+ form, that is based on (or derived from) the Work and for which the
42
+ editorial revisions, annotations, elaborations, or other modifications
43
+ represent, as a whole, an original work of authorship. For the purposes
44
+ of this License, Derivative Works shall not include works that remain
45
+ separable from, or merely link (or bind by name) to the interfaces of,
46
+ the Work and Derivative Works thereof.
47
+
48
+ "Contribution" shall mean any work of authorship, including
49
+ the original version of the Work and any modifications or additions
50
+ to that Work or Derivative Works thereof, that is intentionally
51
+ submitted to Licensor for inclusion in the Work by the copyright owner
52
+ or by an individual or Legal Entity authorized to submit on behalf of
53
+ the copyright owner. For the purposes of this definition, "submitted"
54
+ means any form of electronic, verbal, or written communication sent
55
+ to the Licensor or its representatives, including but not limited to
56
+ communication on electronic mailing lists, source code control systems,
57
+ and issue tracking systems that are managed by, or on behalf of, the
58
+ Licensor for the purpose of discussing and improving the Work, but
59
+ excluding communication that is conspicuously marked or otherwise
60
+ designated in writing by the copyright owner as "Not a Contribution."
61
+
62
+ "Contributor" shall mean Licensor and any individual or Legal Entity
63
+ on behalf of whom a Contribution has been received by Licensor and
64
+ subsequently incorporated within the Work.
65
+
66
+ 2. Grant of Copyright License. Subject to the terms and conditions of
67
+ this License, each Contributor hereby grants to You a perpetual,
68
+ worldwide, non-exclusive, no-charge, royalty-free, irrevocable
69
+ copyright license to reproduce, prepare Derivative Works of,
70
+ publicly display, publicly perform, sublicense, and distribute the
71
+ Work and such Derivative Works in Source or Object form.
72
+
73
+ 3. Grant of Patent License. Subject to the terms and conditions of
74
+ this License, each Contributor hereby grants to You a perpetual,
75
+ worldwide, non-exclusive, no-charge, royalty-free, irrevocable
76
+ (except as stated in this section) patent license to make, have made,
77
+ use, offer to sell, sell, import, and otherwise transfer the Work,
78
+ where such license applies only to those patent claims licensable
79
+ by such Contributor that are necessarily infringed by their
80
+ Contribution(s) alone or by combination of their Contribution(s)
81
+ with the Work to which such Contribution(s) was submitted. If You
82
+ institute patent litigation against any entity (including a
83
+ cross-claim or counterclaim in a lawsuit) alleging that the Work
84
+ or a Contribution incorporated within the Work constitutes direct
85
+ or contributory patent infringement, then any patent licenses
86
+ granted to You under this License for that Work shall terminate
87
+ as of the date such litigation is filed.
88
+
89
+ 4. Redistribution. You may reproduce and distribute copies of the
90
+ Work or Derivative Works thereof in any medium, with or without
91
+ modifications, and in Source or Object form, provided that You
92
+ meet the following conditions:
93
+
94
+ (a) You must give any other recipients of the Work or
95
+ Derivative Works a copy of this License; and
96
+
97
+ (b) You must cause any modified files to carry prominent notices
98
+ stating that You changed the files; and
99
+
100
+ (c) You must retain, in the Source form of any Derivative Works
101
+ that You distribute, all copyright, patent, trademark, and
102
+ attribution notices from the Source form of the Work,
103
+ excluding those notices that do not pertain to any part of
104
+ the Derivative Works; and
105
+
106
+ (d) If the Work includes a "NOTICE" text file as part of its
107
+ distribution, then any Derivative Works that You distribute must
108
+ include a readable copy of the attribution notices contained
109
+ within such NOTICE file, excluding those notices that do not
110
+ pertain to any part of the Derivative Works, in at least one
111
+ of the following places: within a NOTICE text file distributed
112
+ as part of the Derivative Works; within the Source form or
113
+ documentation, if provided along with the Derivative Works; or,
114
+ within a display generated by the Derivative Works, if and
115
+ wherever such third-party notices normally appear. The contents
116
+ of the NOTICE file are for informational purposes only and
117
+ do not modify the License. You may add Your own attribution
118
+ notices within Derivative Works that You distribute, alongside
119
+ or as an addendum to the NOTICE text from the Work, provided
120
+ that such additional attribution notices cannot be construed
121
+ as modifying the License.
122
+
123
+ You may add Your own copyright statement to Your modifications and
124
+ may provide additional or different license terms and conditions
125
+ for use, reproduction, or distribution of Your modifications, or
126
+ for any such Derivative Works as a whole, provided Your use,
127
+ reproduction, and distribution of the Work otherwise complies with
128
+ the conditions stated in this License.
129
+
130
+ 5. Submission of Contributions. Unless You explicitly state otherwise,
131
+ any Contribution intentionally submitted for inclusion in the Work
132
+ by You to the Licensor shall be under the terms and conditions of
133
+ this License, without any additional terms or conditions.
134
+ Notwithstanding the above, nothing herein shall supersede or modify
135
+ the terms of any separate license agreement you may have executed
136
+ with Licensor regarding such Contributions.
137
+
138
+ 6. Trademarks. This License does not grant permission to use the trade
139
+ names, trademarks, service marks, or product names of the Licensor,
140
+ except as required for reasonable and customary use in describing the
141
+ origin of the Work and reproducing the content of the NOTICE file.
142
+
143
+ 7. Disclaimer of Warranty. Unless required by applicable law or
144
+ agreed to in writing, Licensor provides the Work (and each
145
+ Contributor provides its Contributions) on an "AS IS" BASIS,
146
+ WITHOUT WARRANTIES OR CONDITIONS OF ANY KIND, either express or
147
+ implied, including, without limitation, any warranties or conditions
148
+ of TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, MERCHANTABILITY, or FITNESS FOR A
149
+ PARTICULAR PURPOSE. You are solely responsible for determining the
150
+ appropriateness of using or redistributing the Work and assume any
151
+ risks associated with Your exercise of permissions under this License.
152
+
153
+ 8. Limitation of Liability. In no event and under no legal theory,
154
+ whether in tort (including negligence), contract, or otherwise,
155
+ unless required by applicable law (such as deliberate and grossly
156
+ negligent acts) or agreed to in writing, shall any Contributor be
157
+ liable to You for damages, including any direct, indirect, special,
158
+ incidental, or consequential damages of any character arising as a
159
+ result of this License or out of the use or inability to use the
160
+ Work (including but not limited to damages for loss of goodwill,
161
+ work stoppage, computer failure or malfunction, or any and all
162
+ other commercial damages or losses), even if such Contributor
163
+ has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
164
+
165
+ 9. Accepting Warranty or Additional Liability. While redistributing
166
+ the Work or Derivative Works thereof, You may choose to offer,
167
+ and charge a fee for, acceptance of support, warranty, indemnity,
168
+ or other liability obligations and/or rights consistent with this
169
+ License. However, in accepting such obligations, You may act only
170
+ on Your own behalf and on Your sole responsibility, not on behalf
171
+ of any other Contributor, and only if You agree to indemnify,
172
+ defend, and hold each Contributor harmless for any liability
173
+ incurred by, or claims asserted against, such Contributor by reason
174
+ of your accepting any such warranty or additional liability.
175
+
176
+ END OF TERMS AND CONDITIONS
177
+
178
+ APPENDIX: How to apply the Apache License to your work.
179
+
180

183
