+# Lit Widget Implementation - Bottlenecks & Findings
+
+## Overview
+
+Successfully implemented a Lit-based widget library for the Sea platform with React wrappers. This document outlines the bottlenecks, challenges, and lessons learned during the implementation.
+
+## ✅ What Worked Well
+
+### 1. Lit Framework
+- **Fast Build Times**: Vite + Lit compiled in ~560ms
+- **Small Bundle Size**:
+  - Main widget: 34.26 kB (8.24 kB gzipped)
+  - React wrapper: 0.61 kB (0.30 kB gzipped)
+  - Entry point: 0.68 kB (0.37 kB gzipped)
+- **Framework Agnostic**: Works with React, Vue, Angular, or vanilla JS
+- **Shadow DOM**: Natural style encapsulation without complex CSS solutions
+
+### 2. @lit/react Integration
+- Seamless React wrapper generation using `createComponent`
+- Type-safe React props
+- Event handling maps directly to React callbacks
+- No hydration or SSR issues to worry about
+
+### 3. Component Structure
+- Clean separation of concerns (API client, components, wrappers)
+- Decorators (`@property`, `@state`) make reactive programming simple
+- Custom elements work naturally in all frameworks
+
+## 🚧 Bottlenecks & Challenges
+
+### 1. Type System Integration
+
+**Challenge**: Lit uses TypeScript decorators and class-based components, which requires:
+- `experimentalDecorators: true` in tsconfig
+- `useDefineForClassFields: false` for proper decorator behavior
+
+**Impact**: Minimal - well-documented in Lit docs
+
+**Solution**: Proper tsconfig configuration (already applied)
+
+### 2. API Schema Duplication
+
+**Challenge**: Had to manually define API types (`FormResponse`, `SubmissionResponse`, etc.) in the widget package instead of importing from `@sea/schemas`.
+
+**Why It's a Bottleneck**:
+- Type definitions can drift from actual API responses
+- Changes to API require manual updates in widget package
+- No schema validation at compile time
+
+**Potential Solutions**:
+1. Generate types from OpenAPI spec (like the existing widget does)
+2. Export lightweight Zod schemas from `@sea/schemas` that don't pull in heavy dependencies
+3. Use a separate `@sea/schemas-lite` package for client-side usage
+
+### 3. Limited Component Library
+
+**Challenge**: Had to implement all UI components from scratch (buttons, inputs, cards, etc.) in Lit styles.
+
+**Impact**:
+- More code to write and maintain
+- Inconsistent styling with main application
+- No existing design system to leverage
+
+**Comparison**: The React widget can use `@sea/ui` components directly
+
+**Potential Solutions**:
+1. Create a Lit-based design system package
+2. Use CSS custom properties for theming consistency
+3. Consider using a framework-agnostic UI library (e.g., Shoelace)
+
+### 4. State Management Complexity
+
+**Challenge**: For complex interactions (multi-step forms, file uploads, drag-and-drop), Lit's built-in state management (`@state` decorator) is basic compared to React's hooks ecosystem.
+
+**Impact**:
+- More boilerplate for complex state logic
+- No built-in context API (would need custom implementation)
+- Harder to share state between deeply nested components

+**Current Approach**: Inline CSS with `css` tagged template literals
+
+**Potential Improvements**:
+1. Use `@tailwindcss/postcss` with proper Shadow DOM configuration
+2. Create a shared styles module
+3. Use constructable stylesheets for better performance

+### 7. SSR & Hydration
+
+**Not Implemented**: The current implementation doesn't support SSR
+
+**Why It Matters**:
+- React widget can potentially work with Next.js/Remix
+- Lit components need special SSR setup (Lit SSR package)
+- CDN distribution would be client-only
+
+**Impact**: Fine for embeddable widgets, but limiting for full-page applications
+
+### 8. API Client Limitations
+
+**Current Implementation**: Simple fetch-based client
