+ # Auto Sync Block
2
+
3
+ This desktop-only Joplin plugin creates a notebook named `[Reserved]` directly
4
+ in the trash, or updates an existing trashed notebook with that exact name. It
5
+ updates the notebook every 10 seconds. Joplin's desktop sync-as-you-type delay
6
+ is currently 15 seconds, so these changes keep rescheduling that sync while
7
+ the plugin is running. After a sync completes, the plugin updates the notebook
8
+ and restarts the 10-second timer from that point.
9
+
10
+ On the mobile app, using the same approach would be too aggressive, as the
11
+ sync-as-you-type delay is only 1 second, and making updates more frequently
12
+ would drain a lot of battery. However, an existing workaround for mobile exists.
13
+ In Joplin, open **Configuration > Synchronisation**, and enable the
14
+ **Synchronise only over WiFi connection** setting. Then, so long as you are
15
+ connected to internet via mobile internet only, the sync will not automatically
16
+ trigger while typing, if you disable Joplin's regular synchronization
17
+ interval as well.
18
+
19
+ ## Install
20
+
21
+ In Joplin, open **Tools > Options > Plugins**, select the gear menu, choose
22
+ **Install from file**, and select `plugin.mrjo118.auto-sync-block.jpl`.
23
+
24
+ Restart Joplin after installation. Disable Joplin's regular synchronization
25
+ interval as well; this plugin only postpones sync-as-you-type and does not
26
+ affect the independent recurrent-sync timer. If you do not wish to see the
27
+ [Reserved] notebook in the trash, you can collapse the trash to avoid showing
28
+ all folders under it. Note that if you empty the trash, the notebook is
29
+ automatically re-created, so deleting it is not an issue.
