+# Word documents (.docx)
+
+This skill provides **one tested tool** — `scripts/node/docx.cjs` — that creates
+and edits `.docx` files from a JSON spec. **You do not write docx code or touch
+XML.** You describe the document as JSON; the tool builds a correct file (page
+size, fonts, real bullet numbering, table widths, page numbers, etc. are all
+handled for you).
+
+Run it with `"$OPEN_CORE_NODE"` (the guaranteed Node binary). All dependencies
+are bundled — never run `npm install`. **Pipe the JSON spec on stdin** so there
+is no scratch file to clean up:

+## Creating a document
+
+`create --out <file>` reads a document spec on stdin:

+Only `body` is required. `page.size` is `letter` (default) or `a4`; `margin` is
+in inches; `font.size` is in points. `header`/`footer` are optional; a footer
+with `"pageNumber": true` appends a live page number.
+

+A **cell** is a string or `{ "text"/"runs", "bold", "fill": "RRGGBB", "align" }`.
+Header-row cells are bold by default.
+
+### Runs (inline formatting)
+
+`text` is plain. For mixed formatting use `runs` — an array of:
+

+All run fields are optional except `text`. `link` makes a hyperlink.

+## Editing an existing document
+
+`edit` reads an edit spec on stdin. You describe **operations**; the tool applies
+them and writes the result. You never see or edit XML.
+

+`replaceText` matches text even when Word split it across runs (the tool merges
+runs first), so a phrase you can see in the document will be found.
+
+> Need an operation that isn't listed (e.g. set a table cell, insert before a
+> heading, delete a section)? Tell the user it isn't supported yet rather than
+> improvising — the op set grows as needed.
+

+## Reading a document
+
+To read/extract content, unpack and read the XML directly:

+Delete `unpacked/` when done.
+
+## Not supported
+
+Legacy `.doc` conversion, PDF/image rendering, tracked-change acceptance, and
+comment authoring are not available in this environment.
