+**TL;DR**: 90 days into our startup, I checked our AWS bill. $47,283 for OpenAI API calls. We were burning $526/day on LLM inference. Built a routing layer in 48 hours. Now we spend $142/day. Open sourced it.

+## The Day I Almost Had a Heart Attack
+
+March 15th. I'm reviewing Q1 expenses before our Series A pitch.
+
+AWS: $12,400 (expected)
+Vercel: $890 (fine)
+OpenAI: **$47,283** (wait, what?)
+
+I refreshed the page. Still $47,283.
+
+We'd burned through nearly **$50K in 90 days** on LLM API calls. That's **$526/day**. For context, our entire engineering team costs $580/day.

+
