+Agentic coding assistant from [Vext Labs](https://tryvext.com). Brings the Theron council of 30 specialists into your terminal with file / edit / bash tools.

+## What it does
+
+- Streams from `theron.tryvext.com` (33 domain profiles: code, legal, finance, design, research, writing, …).

+- One-command migration wizard (`theron onboard`) sets up the `cl` shell alias, Microsoft 365 + Google Workspace OAuth, the Office add-in, your top-3 specialists, and an optional history import from your previous assistant.

+## Authentication
+
+`theron login` saves your API key to `~/.theron/credentials` (mode 0600). The key is read in this priority order:
+
+1. `THERON_API_KEY` env var
+2. `--api-key` CLI flag
+3. `~/.theron/credentials`
+
+Anonymous calls work — auth just unlocks higher rate limits and saved history. Get an API key at <https://theron.tryvext.com/settings/api-keys>.
+
+## Error handling
+
+Every code path either succeeds, retries, or surfaces a clear error:
+
+- **Token expired (401 / 403)** — friendly "not authorized, run `theron login`" message.
+- **Network down** — auto-retries with exponential backoff (1s → 2s → 4s, 3 retries) on connection failures.
+- **Model busy (429 / 5xx)** — auto-retries with the same backoff schedule.
+- **Stream timeout** — 5 min hard cap; surfaces "stream interrupted" rather than hanging.
+- **Tool failure** — fed back into the conversation as a structured tool result so the model can recover, never crashes the REPL.
