# Rika
2
+
3
+
Rika is a local coding-agent CLI and terminal application. It uses Baton for the agent loop, Relay for durable execution, Effect SQL for local product state, and OpenTUI for rendering.
4
+
5
+
## Install
6
+
7
+
```bash
8
+
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/In-Time-Tec/rika/main/install.sh | sh
9
+
```
10
+
11
+
Or from npm:
12
+
13
+
```bash
14
+
npm install -g @rikafx/cli
15
+
```
16
+
17
+
Both install the same binaries and give you a `rika` command. The curl installer puts them under
18
+
`~/.local/share/rika/current` with a link at `~/.local/bin/rika`; set `RIKA_VERSION`,
19
+
`RIKA_INSTALL_ROOT`, or `RIKA_BIN_DIR` to change the version or locations. macOS and Linux on arm64
20
+
and x86_64 are supported.
21
+
22
+
## Setup
23
+
24
+
Only needed to work on Rika itself.
25
+
26
+
```bash
27
+
bun install
28
+
bun run check
29
+
bun run dev
30
+
```
31
+
32
+
The standard repository commands are `build`, `check`, `dev`, `format`, `test`, and `typecheck`.
33
+
34
+
## Package and install from source
35
+
36
+
Build and install an explicit host target:
37
+
38
+
```bash
39
+
bun run package -- --target linux-x64
40
+
bun run install-local
41
+
rika --version
42
+
```
43
+
44
+
`install-local` installs the existing versioned host archive under `~/.local/share/rika/current` with a command at `~/.local/bin/rika`. Set `RIKA_PACKAGE_TARGET`, `RIKA_INSTALL_ROOT`, or `RIKA_BIN_DIR` to override the target or locations. `uninstall-local` removes the installed program but keeps Rika state and configuration.
45
+
46
+
## Configuration
47
+
48
+
Global settings live at `~/.config/rika/settings.json`. A workspace can override them with `.rika/settings.json`. Credentials stay out of JSON: a provider override names the environment variable that supplies its API key.
49
+
50
+
```json
51
+
{
52
+
"providers": {
53
+
"openai": {
54
+
"baseUrl": "http://127.0.0.1:9000/v1",
55
+
"apiKeyEnv": "RIKA_MODEL_API_KEY"
56
+
}
57
+
}
58
+
}
59
+
```
60
+
61
+
```bash
62
+
export RIKA_MODEL_API_KEY="your-provider-key"
63
+
rika config list
64
+
rika doctor
65
+
rika
66
+
```
67
+
68
+
Read `PRODUCT.md` for product direction and `CONTEXT.md` for the vocabulary and ownership model.
