- **`--help` / `--version` crashed in 1.6.0.** The new `${VAR}` / `${VAR:-default}` examples added to the `--help` text were placed inside a JavaScript template literal, so Node tried to evaluate them and the binary failed to parse (`SyntaxError: Missing } in template expression`) — breaking every invocation, including `--version`. The `$` is now escaped so the placeholders render literally.
