+# @aopslabs/aops-server
+
+The ready-to-run AOPS Server package. It contains the AOPS server,
+the AOPS Cockpit web application, and the reviewed PostgreSQL migration assets.
+
+Install the Server and operator CLI as separate public packages when both run
+on the same machine:
+
+```sh
+npm install --global @aopslabs/aops-server @aopslabs/aops
+aops-cli setup server-env
+aops setup init
+```
+
+Remote operator machines install only `@aopslabs/aops` and connect to this
+Server over HTTPS.
+
+The source repositories remain private. Any runtime dependency needed during a
+customer install can be published through public npm without making its source
+repository public or granting an open-source license.
+
+The PostgreSQL server is operator-owned. AOPS does not silently create or
+change a database connection, and it listens on the loopback interface by
+default. Use `aops-cli server status`, `aops-cli server health`, and
+`aops-cli server stop` for lifecycle control.
+
