+# aarmos (CLI bridge)
+
+Prosumer CLI that acts as a native host for the Aarmos PWA. The PWA stays
+the brain (agent runtime, governance, policies). The CLI is the arms on the
+developer's machine (files, shell, git).
+
+**Status:** `0.1.0` — published to npm under the `next` dist-tag while we
+watch for field issues. The bridge is intentionally thin: pairing, RPC,
+and a deny-by-default capability surface. The PWA at
+[aarmos.io](https://www.aarmos.io) is the brain.
+
+## Install

+## Commands
+
+### `aarmos dev`
+
+Boots the local bridge and pairs with the PWA.
+

+**Deny-by-default:** `db.query` and `fs.scoped.read` are not advertised in
+`capabilities` unless the matching `--allow-*` flag is present. Without the
+flag, the PWA does not even see the tool — there is no way to silently fall
+back to a serverless path.
+
+
+What it does:
+1. Boots a localhost-only WebSocket bridge on `127.0.0.1:<port>`.
+2. Generates a fresh per-session pairing token.
+3. Opens the PWA at `?bridge=1&port=<port>&token=<token>` so the browser
+   can pair.
+4. Streams file-change and git-branch events to the PWA so the agent stays
+   in sync while the developer keeps editing in VS Code.
+5. Stays up across accidents — closed tabs, killed browsers, or garbage
+   payloads log `◇ Client disconnected. Standing by…` and keep the port
+   listening for the same pairing token to reconnect. `Ctrl+C` shuts it
+   down cleanly.
+
+### `aarmos run`
+
+Headless, unattended execution loop for CI runners, jump hosts, VMs, or
+anywhere a human is not watching. **The PWA is still the brain** — this
+loop can only auto-execute steps that were pre-blessed in a playbook
+(`autoApply: true`). Everything else dry-runs and is logged for the PWA
+to approve later.

+Guarantees:
+- Every action flows through the same dry-run → `apply.batch` pipeline
+  as the interactive bridge — there is no shortcut path.
+- Steps without `autoApply: true` are dry-run only and logged as
+  `needs-approval`; nothing is written until a human reviews them.
+- **Destructive gate:** verbs classified as destructive (`kubectl delete`,
+  `kubectl drain`, `git push --force`, `Jira DELETE /issue/{id}`, etc.)
+  force approval at runtime unless the step sets
+  `acknowledgeDestructive: true` **and** the playbook is signed. Same rule
+  applies whether or not `--enforce-signatures` is set.
+- The kill-switch file is checked before every tick; presence halts.
+- The `--max-per-hour` ceiling is a rolling window over applied runs.
+- Every action produces a SHA-256-hashed receipt on disk; if
+  `--heartbeat-url` is set, receipts and 30-second heartbeats are
+  forwarded (best-effort — a dead sink never crashes the loop).
+
+### `aarmos simulate`
+
+Compile-time governance. Loads a playbook, runs it through the same
+dry-run pipeline as `run`, and prints a per-step verdict — `would-apply`,
+`needs-approval`, or `would-fail` — with the risk classification and
+approval reason. **No side effects.** Use it in CI before scheduling a
+loop for real.
+

+Sign, verify, and manage Ed25519 keys for playbooks. Signing is optional
+in dev; only `aarmos run --enforce-signatures` refuses unsigned or
+untrusted playbooks.

+Signatures cover a canonical JSON of the playbook body with the
+`signature` field stripped — same primitive the on-device receipt
+signer uses, so one verifier reads both.
+
+### `aarmos pack`
+
+Certified playbook packs — signed JSON bundles of playbooks + scope
+allowlists (`shell`, `http`, `mcp`). Installing a pack widens allowlists
+for that workspace only.

+### `aarmos attest` / `aarmos verify`
+
+Export a JSON evidence bundle: hash-chained receipts within a time
+window, the playbook hash, the policy config hash, installed pack
+hashes, and a sequential `rootHash`. Optionally Ed25519-signed.

+`aarmos verify` re-computes `rootHash` from the embedded receipts and
+checks the signature against the embedded bytes — pure function, no
+network, runnable air-gapped. It attests the file wasn't edited after
+issuance; whether it satisfies a specific audit or regulation is up to
+your auditor.
+
+### `aarmos demo`
+
+Scripted end-to-end walkthrough of the dry-run pipeline. **No PWA, no
+pairing, no devtools required** — great for CI, screencasts, and sanity
+checks on a fresh machine.
+

+`aarmos demo` proposes a file edit, a `git status`, and a `node src/hello.js`
+against the current workspace, prints the same diffs + command previews the
+PWA drawer renders, and — only with `--apply` — commits them through the
+same `apply.batch` RPC.
+
+## The dry-run safety net
+
+Every mutating RPC (`fs.write`, `shell.exec`) is intercepted at the bridge
+boundary. By default, the CLI returns a **preview** payload instead of
+executing:
+
+- `fs.write` → before/after content, byte counts, and existed-or-new flag.
+- `shell.exec` → the exact command line, absolute cwd, binary + args.
+
+The PWA queues previews into a batch. When the developer approves the
+batch, the PWA calls `apply.batch` with the approved subset, which executes
+atomically (stop-on-first-error) — this is the only path that touches disk.
+

+## Security posture (v1 — prosumer)

+- Localhost-only bind (`127.0.0.1`), never `0.0.0.0`.
+- Origin allow-list on every WS upgrade (PWA production + preview + local
+  dev).
+- Per-session pairing token that must be presented on connect. It stays
+  valid for the life of the `aarmos dev` process so the PWA can reconnect
+  after a dropped socket, but concurrent duplicate connections are refused
+  (WS close code 4409).
+- Workspace jail: all `fs.*` paths are resolved and asserted to live under
+  the CWD `aarmos dev` was invoked in. Symlink escapes are rejected.
+- Shell exec uses an allow-list (`git`, `npm`, `pnpm`, `bun`, `node`, `ls`,
+  `cat`, `rg`, `grep`). Extras via `--allow-shell`.
+- Dry-run is ON by default. Every write and shell command surfaces in the
+  PWA drawer with a full diff or command preview before touching disk.
+- Process guards: uncaught exceptions and unhandled rejections are logged
+  and swallowed — the bridge stays up so the developer can recover.
+
+The enterprise trust model (org policy overlay, signed CLI binary,
+device-code pairing, admin audit) is intentionally out of scope for v1.
