+ # Stylexicon
2
+
3
+ Stylexicon provides a path on your rails site that has demo content for every
4
+ tag included in the w3 html5 specification. This way, you can visit that page
5
+ to see if your stylesheet defines acceptable ways to render each piece of
6
+ content. This should make building a style guide for a site fairly easy.
7
+
8
+ It also provides a way to add custom modules to the lexicon. Why would you want
9
+ to do that? Here's an example. Say you have a reusable piece of markup that
10
+ looks like this:
11
+
12
+ <div class='image-grid-2x2'>
13
+ <img ... /
14
+ <img ... /
15
+ <img ... /
16
+ <img ... />
17
+ </div>
18
+
19
+ Assume that piece of content was supposed to generate a 2x2 grid of images. You
20
+ could add that markup to the lexicon, and then add the styles. That way, a
21
+ content maintainer (say, a developer writing a blog post) can view all of the
22
+ available content pieces, and use that markup to keep the site's styling
23
+ consistent, and keep the brand intact. You could also from that point on use
24
+ the lexicon as a visual test suite, so that a quick glance verifies that you
25
+ haven't accidentlly broken a style.
26
+
27
+ ## Installation
28
+
29
+ First, add the gem to your Gemfile like so:
30
+
31
+ gem 'stylexicon', :git => 'http://github.com/isotope11/stylexicon.git'
32
+
33
+ Then, mount it in your app:
34
+
35
+ mount Stylexicon::Engine => "/stylexicon"
36
+
37
+ Finally, run the server:
38
+
39
+ rails s
40
+
41
+ and hit http://localhost:3000/stylexicon
42
+
43
+ ## Development
44
+
45
+ To get started developing, do the following:
46
+
47
+ 1. Fork the project on github.
48
+ 2. Clone your fork locally.
49
+ 3. Create a feature branch for the feature you wish to work on.
50
+ 4. Make commits to this feature branch and push it to your github repo.
51
+ 5. Open a pull request on this isotope11 repo.
