37
+
38
+ This Code of Conduct applies within all community spaces, and also applies when an individual is officially representing the community in public spaces. Examples of representing our community include using an official e-mail address, posting via an official social media account, or acting as an appointed representative at an online or offline event.
39
+
40
+ ## Enforcement
41
+
42
+ Instances of abusive, harassing, or otherwise unacceptable behavior may be reported to the community leaders responsible for enforcement at me@julik.nl. All complaints will be reviewed and investigated promptly and fairly.
43
+
44
+ All community leaders are obligated to respect the privacy and security of the reporter of any incident.
45
+
46
+ ## Enforcement Guidelines
47
+
48
+ Community leaders will follow these Community Impact Guidelines in determining the consequences for any action they deem in violation of this Code of Conduct:
49
+
50
+ ### 1. Correction
51
+
52
+ **Community Impact**: Use of inappropriate language or other behavior deemed unprofessional or unwelcome in the community.
53
+
54
+ **Consequence**: A private, written warning from community leaders, providing clarity around the nature of the violation and an explanation of why the behavior was inappropriate. A public apology may be requested.
55
+
56
+ ### 2. Warning
57
+
58
+ **Community Impact**: A violation through a single incident or series of actions.
59
+
60
+ **Consequence**: A warning with consequences for continued behavior. No interaction with the people involved, including unsolicited interaction with those enforcing the Code of Conduct, for a specified period of time. This includes avoiding interactions in community spaces as well as external channels like social media. Violating these terms may lead to a temporary or permanent ban.
61
+
62
+ ### 3. Temporary Ban
63
+
64
+ **Community Impact**: A serious violation of community standards, including sustained inappropriate behavior.
65
+
66
+ **Consequence**: A temporary ban from any sort of interaction or public communication with the community for a specified period of time. No public or private interaction with the people involved, including unsolicited interaction with those enforcing the Code of Conduct, is allowed during this period. Violating these terms may lead to a permanent ban.
67
+
68
+ ### 4. Permanent Ban
69
+
70
+ **Community Impact**: Demonstrating a pattern of violation of community standards, including sustained inappropriate behavior, harassment of an individual, or aggression toward or disparagement of classes of individuals.
71
+
72
+ **Consequence**: A permanent ban from any sort of public interaction within the community.

+ # ODS Extractor
2
+
3
+ This gem will help you export multiple sheets from OpenOffice Calc documents. The documents often contain multiple sheets,
4
+ and even though there is a command on OpenOffice to export a single sheet as CSV it will only export the sheet which
5
+ is currently selected. You will also need a full install of OpenOffice to do this (which, in a server environment, will mean
6
+ also a full GUI environment).
7
+
8
+ There _are_ ways to use the `--headless` option to extract the sheets that you want, but you need to create a macro
9
+ and load it into openoffice, and then trigger it from the commandline before exporting.
10
+ Or you need to drive OO from UNO which you also need to install (see below in "Other solutions").
11
+
12
+ But instead of using a full OpenOffice/LibreOffice install we can also solve this from the other end and just parse the ODS document ourselves.
13
+ This is easier than it might seem at first glance, but there are is a pitfall. There are gems which manipulate spreadsheet
14
+ documents in this way - but they first load the entire document into memory, usually as a DOM. However this quickly breaks
15
+ down when huge documents are involved.
16
+
17
+ This gem uses a SAX parser to ingest the spreadsheets in a streaming fashion. An ODS document is just a ZIP with a huge XML inside
18
+ of it. For opening the ZIP file [zip_tricks](https://github.com/WeTransfer/zip_tricks) is used. For parsing the XML
19
+ a SAX parser from Nokogiri is used - you are likely to have Nokogiri already installed, as Rails uses it to sanitize HTML. The extraction
20
+ of the rows happens as the XML is fed to Nokogiri directly from the ZIP file, without having to create any intermediate files on
21
+ the file system.
22
+
23
+ ## Usage
24
+
25
+ You need access to an IO object with random access which contains your ODS file. Imagine you want to capture all rows from the `Expenses` sheet
26
+ in your ODS, and you want to process them inline, as they get parsed:
27
+
28
+ ```ruby
29
+ # The output receives the sheet name and the row contents. `use_header_rows`
30
+ # will yield `Hash` objects with headers from the first row as keys.
31
+ output = ODSExtractor::RowOutput.new(use_header_row: true) do |sheet_name:, row:|
32
+ LineItem.create!(expenditure: row.fetch("Expenditure"), amount: row.fetch('Amount').to_i)
33
+ end
34
+
35
+ File.open(__dir__ + '/big_spreadsheet.ods') do |f|
36
+ ODSExtractor.extract(input_io: f, output: out, sheet_names: "Expenses")
37
+ end
38
+ ```
39
+
40
+ ## Installation
41
+
42
+ Add this line to your application's Gemfile:
43
+
44
+ ```ruby
45
+ gem 'ods_extractor'
46
+ ```
47
+
48
+ And then execute:
49
+
50
+ $ bundle install
51
+
52
+ Or install it yourself as:
53
+
54
+ $ gem install ods_extractor
55
+
56
+ ## Development
57
+
58
+ After checking out the repo, run `bin/setup` to install dependencies. Then, run `rake spec` to run the tests. You can also run `bin/console` for an interactive prompt that will allow you to experiment.
59
+
60
+ To install this gem onto your local machine, run `bundle exec rake install`. To release a new version, update the version number in `version.rb`, and then run `bundle exec rake release`, which will create a git tag for the version, push git commits and the created tag, and push the `.gem` file to [rubygems.org](https://rubygems.org).
