<chapter no='1'>
3
+
<verse no='1'>Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,</verse>
4
+
<verse no='2'>Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, The LORD God of heaven hath given me all the kingdoms of the earth; and he hath charged me to build him an house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah.</verse>
5
+
<verse no='3'>Who is there among you of all his people? his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of the LORD God of Israel, (he is the God,) which is in Jerusalem.</verse>
6
+
<verse no='4'>And whosoever remaineth in any place where he sojourneth, let the men of his place help him with silver, and with gold, and with goods, and with beasts, beside the freewill offering for the house of God that is in Jerusalem.</verse>
7
+
<verse no='5'>Then rose up the chief of the fathers of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests, and the Levites, with all them whose spirit God had raised, to go up to build the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem.</verse>
8
+
<verse no='6'>And all they that were about them strengthened their hands with vessels of silver, with gold, with goods, and with beasts, and with precious things, beside all that was willingly offered.</verse>
9
+
<verse no='7'>Also Cyrus the king brought forth the vessels of the house of the LORD, which Nebuchadnezzar had brought forth out of Jerusalem, and had put them in the house of his gods;</verse>
10
+
<verse no='8'>Even those did Cyrus king of Persia bring forth by the hand of Mithredath the treasurer, and numbered them unto Sheshbazzar, the prince of Judah.</verse>
11
+
<verse no='9'>And this is the number of them: thirty chargers of gold, a thousand chargers of silver, nine and twenty knives,</verse>
12
+
<verse no='10'>Thirty basons of gold, silver basons of a second sort four hundred and ten, and other vessels a thousand.</verse>
13
+
<verse no='11'>All the vessels of gold and of silver were five thousand and four hundred. All these did Sheshbazzar bring up with them of the captivity that were brought up from Babylon unto Jerusalem.</verse>

<chapter no='3'>
88
+
<verse no='1'>And when the seventh month was come, and the children of Israel were in the cities, the people gathered themselves together as one man to Jerusalem.</verse>
89
+
<verse no='2'>Then stood up Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brethren the priests, and Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and his brethren, and builded the altar of the God of Israel, to offer burnt offerings thereon, as it is written in the law of Moses the man of God.</verse>
90
+
<verse no='3'>And they set the altar upon his bases; for fear was upon them because of the people of those countries: and they offered burnt offerings thereon unto the LORD, even burnt offerings morning and evening.</verse>
91
+
<verse no='4'>They kept also the feast of tabernacles, as it is written, and offered the daily burnt offerings by number, according to the custom, as the duty of every day required;</verse>
92
+
<verse no='5'>And afterward offered the continual burnt offering, both of the new moons, and of all the set feasts of the LORD that were consecrated, and of every one that willingly offered a freewill offering unto the LORD.</verse>
93
+
<verse no='6'>From the first day of the seventh month began they to offer burnt offerings unto the LORD. But the foundation of the temple of the LORD was not yet laid.</verse>
94
+
<verse no='7'>They gave money also unto the masons, and to the carpenters; and meat, and drink, and oil, unto them of Zidon, and to them of Tyre, to bring cedar trees from Lebanon to the sea of Joppa, according to the grant that they had of Cyrus king of Persia.</verse>
95
+
<verse no='8'>Now in the second year of their coming unto the house of God at Jerusalem, in the second month, began Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and the remnant of their brethren the priests and the Levites, and all they that were come out of the captivity unto Jerusalem; and appointed the Levites, from twenty years old and upward, to set forward the work of the house of the LORD.</verse>
96
+
<verse no='9'>Then stood Jeshua with his sons and his brethren, Kadmiel and his sons, the sons of Judah, together, to set forward the workmen in the house of God: the sons of Henadad, with their sons and their brethren the Levites.</verse>
97
+
<verse no='10'>And when the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the LORD, they set the priests in their apparel with trumpets, and the Levites the sons of Asaph with cymbals, to praise the LORD, after the ordinance of David king of Israel.</verse>
98
+
<verse no='11'>And they sang together by course in praising and giving thanks unto the LORD; because he is good, for his mercy endureth for ever toward Israel. And all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised the LORD, because the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid.</verse>
99
+
<verse no='12'>But many of the priests and Levites and chief of the fathers, who were ancient men, that had seen the first house, when the foundation of this house was laid before their eyes, wept with a loud voice; and many shouted aloud for joy:</verse>
100
+
<verse no='13'>So that the people could not discern the noise of the shout of joy from the noise of the weeping of the people: for the people shouted with a loud shout, and the noise was heard afar off.</verse>

</chapter>
102

<chapter no='4'>
103
+
<verse no='1'>Now when the adversaries of Judah and Benjamin heard that the children of the captivity builded the temple unto the LORD God of Israel;</verse>
104
+
<verse no='2'>Then they came to Zerubbabel, and to the chief of the fathers, and said unto them, Let us build with you: for we seek your God, as ye do; and we do sacrifice unto him since the days of Esarhaddon king of Assur, which brought us up hither.</verse>
105
+
<verse no='3'>But Zerubbabel, and Jeshua, and the rest of the chief of the fathers of Israel, said unto them, Ye have nothing to do with us to build an house unto our God; but we ourselves together will build unto the LORD God of Israel, as king Cyrus the king of Persia hath commanded us.</verse>
106
+
<verse no='4'>Then the people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Judah, and troubled them in building,</verse>
107
+
<verse no='5'>And hired counsellors against them, to frustrate their purpose, all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Persia.</verse>
108
+
<verse no='6'>And in the reign of Ahasuerus, in the beginning of his reign, wrote they unto him an accusation against the inhabitants of Judah and Jerusalem.</verse>
109
+
<verse no='7'>And in the days of Artaxerxes wrote Bishlam, Mithredath, Tabeel, and the rest of their companions, unto Artaxerxes king of Persia; and the writing of the letter was written in the Syrian tongue, and interpreted in the Syrian tongue.</verse>
110
+
<verse no='8'>Rehum the chancellor and Shimshai the scribe wrote a letter against Jerusalem to Artaxerxes the king in this sort:</verse>
111
+
<verse no='9'>Then wrote Rehum the chancellor, and Shimshai the scribe, and the rest of their companions; the Dinaites, the Apharsathchites, the Tarpelites, the Apharsites, the Archevites, the Babylonians, the Susanchites, the Dehavites, and the Elamites,</verse>
112
+
<verse no='10'>And the rest of the nations whom the great and noble Asnapper brought over, and set in the cities of Samaria, and the rest that are on this side the river, and at such a time.</verse>
113
+
<verse no='11'>This is the copy of the letter that they sent unto him, even unto Artaxerxes the king; Thy servants the men on this side the river, and at such a time.</verse>
114
+
<verse no='12'>Be it known unto the king, that the Jews which came up from thee to us are come unto Jerusalem, building the rebellious and the bad city, and have set up the walls thereof, and joined the foundations.</verse>
115
+
<verse no='13'>Be it known now unto the king, that, if this city be builded, and the walls set up again, then will they not pay toll, tribute, and custom, and so thou shalt endamage the revenue of the kings.</verse>
116
+
<verse no='14'>Now because we have maintenance from the king's palace, and it was not meet for us to see the king's dishonour, therefore have we sent and certified the king;</verse>
117
+
<verse no='15'>That search may be made in the book of the records of thy fathers: so shalt thou find in the book of the records, and know that this city is a rebellious city, and hurtful unto kings and provinces, and that they have moved sedition within the same of old time: for which cause was this city destroyed.</verse>
118
+
<verse no='16'>We certify the king that, if this city be builded again, and the walls thereof set up, by this means thou shalt have no portion on this side the river.</verse>
119
+
<verse no='17'>Then sent the king an answer unto Rehum the chancellor, and to Shimshai the scribe, and to the rest of their companions that dwell in Samaria, and unto the rest beyond the river, Peace, and at such a time.</verse>
120
+
<verse no='18'>The letter which ye sent unto us hath been plainly read before me.</verse>
121
+
<verse no='19'>And I commanded, and search hath been made, and it is found that this city of old time hath made insurrection against kings, and that rebellion and sedition have been made therein.</verse>
122
+
<verse no='20'>There have been mighty kings also over Jerusalem, which have ruled over all countries beyond the river; and toll, tribute, and custom, was paid unto them.</verse>
123
+
<verse no='21'>Give ye now commandment to cause these men to cease, and that this city be not builded, until another commandment shall be given from me.</verse>
124
+
<verse no='22'>Take heed now that ye fail not to do this: why should damage grow to the hurt of the kings?</verse>
125
+
<verse no='23'>Now when the copy of king Artaxerxes' letter was read before Rehum, and Shimshai the scribe, and their companions, they went up in haste to Jerusalem unto the Jews, and made them to cease by force and power.</verse>
126
+
<verse no='24'>Then ceased the work of the house of God which is at Jerusalem. So it ceased unto the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia.</verse>
127

</chapter>
128

<chapter no='5'>
129
+
<verse no='1'>Then the prophets, Haggai the prophet, and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied unto the Jews that were in Judah and Jerusalem in the name of the God of Israel, even unto them.</verse>
130
+
<verse no='2'>Then rose up Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and began to build the house of God which is at Jerusalem: and with them were the prophets of God helping them.</verse>
131
+
<verse no='3'>At the same time came to them Tatnai, governor on this side the river, and Shetharboznai and their companions, and said thus unto them, Who hath commanded you to build this house, and to make up this wall?</verse>

<verse no='4'>Then said we unto them after this manner, What are the names of the men that make this building?</verse>

<verse no='6'>The copy of the letter that Tatnai, governor on this side the river, and Shetharboznai and his companions the Apharsachites, which were on this side the river, sent unto Darius the king:</verse>

<verse no='7'>They sent a letter unto him, wherein was written thus; Unto Darius the king, all peace.</verse>

<verse no='8'>Be it known unto the king, that we went into the province of Judea, to the house of the great God, which is builded with great stones, and timber is laid in the walls, and this work goeth fast on, and prospereth in their hands.</verse>
137

<verse no='9'>Then asked we those elders, and said unto them thus, Who commanded you to build this house, and to make up these walls?</verse>
138

<verse no='10'>We asked their names also, to certify thee, that we might write the names of the men that were the chief of them.</verse>

139

<verse no='11'>And thus they returned us answer, saying, We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth, and build the house that was builded these many years ago, which a great king of Israel builded and set up.</verse>

<verse no='12'>But after that our fathers had provoked the God of heaven unto wrath, he gave them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, the Chaldean, who destroyed this house, and carried the people away into Babylon.</verse>

<verse no='13'>But in the first year of Cyrus the king of Babylon the same king Cyrus made a decree to build this house of God.</verse>

<verse no='14'>And the vessels also of gold and silver of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar took out of the temple that was in Jerusalem, and brought them into the temple of Babylon, those did Cyrus the king take out of the temple of Babylon, and they were delivered unto one, whose name was Sheshbazzar, whom he had made governor;</verse>

<verse no='17'>Now therefore, if it seem good to the king, let there be search made in the king's treasure house, which is there at Babylon, whether it be so, that a decree was made of Cyrus the king to build this house of God at Jerusalem, and let the king send his pleasure to us concerning this matter.</verse>

<verse no='3'>In the first year of Cyrus the king the same Cyrus the king made a decree concerning the house of God at Jerusalem, Let the house be builded, the place where they offered sacrifices, and let the foundations thereof be strongly laid; the height thereof threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof threescore cubits;</verse>

159

<verse no='12'>And the God that hath caused his name to dwell there destroy all kings and people, that shall put to their hand to alter and to destroy this house of God which is at Jerusalem. I Darius have made a decree; let it be done with speed.</verse>

264
+
<verse no='8'>And that whosoever would not come within three days, according to the counsel of the princes and the elders, all his substance should be forfeited, and himself separated from the congregation of those that had been carried away.</verse>
265
+
<verse no='9'>Then all the men of Judah and Benjamin gathered themselves together unto Jerusalem within three days. It was the ninth month, on the twentieth day of the month; and all the people sat in the street of the house of God, trembling because of this matter, and for the great rain.</verse>
266
+
<verse no='10'>And Ezra the priest stood up, and said unto them, Ye have transgressed, and have taken strange wives, to increase the trespass of Israel.</verse>
267
+
<verse no='11'>Now therefore make confession unto the LORD God of your fathers, and do his pleasure: and separate yourselves from the people of the land, and from the strange wives.</verse>
268
+
<verse no='12'>Then all the congregation answered and said with a loud voice, As thou hast said, so must we do.</verse>
269
+
<verse no='13'>But the people are many, and it is a time of much rain, and we are not able to stand without, neither is this a work of one day or two: for we are many that have transgressed in this thing.</verse>
270
+
<verse no='14'>Let now our rulers of all the congregation stand, and let all them which have taken strange wives in our cities come at appointed times, and with them the elders of every city, and the judges thereof, until the fierce wrath of our God for this matter be turned from us.</verse>
271
+
<verse no='15'>Only Jonathan the son of Asahel and Jahaziah the son of Tikvah were employed about this matter: and Meshullam and Shabbethai the Levite helped them.</verse>
272
+
<verse no='16'>And the children of the captivity did so. And Ezra the priest, with certain chief of the fathers, after the house of their fathers, and all of them by their names, were separated, and sat down in the first day of the tenth month to examine the matter.</verse>
273
+
<verse no='17'>And they made an end with all the men that had taken strange wives by the first day of the first month.</verse>
274
+
<verse no='18'>And among the sons of the priests there were found that had taken strange wives: namely, of the sons of Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brethren; Maaseiah, and Eliezer, and Jarib, and Gedaliah.</verse>
275
+
<verse no='19'>And they gave their hands that they would put away their wives; and being guilty, they offered a ram of the flock for their trespass.</verse>
276
+
<verse no='20'>And of the sons of Immer; Hanani, and Zebadiah.</verse>
277

<verse no='21'>And of the sons of Harim; Maaseiah, and Elijah, and Shemaiah, and Jehiel, and Uzziah.</verse>

3

<verse no='1'>Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;)</verse>
4
+
<verse no='2'>And all the brethren which are with me, unto the churches of Galatia:</verse>
5
+
<verse no='3'>Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ,</verse>
6
+
<verse no='4'>Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:</verse>
7
+
<verse no='5'>To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.</verse>
8
+
<verse no='6'>I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:</verse>
9
+
<verse no='7'>Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.</verse>
10
+
<verse no='8'>But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.</verse>
11
+
<verse no='9'>As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.</verse>
12
+
<verse no='10'>For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.</verse>
13
+
<verse no='11'>But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.</verse>
14
+
<verse no='12'>For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.</verse>
15
+
<verse no='13'>For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews' religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it:</verse>
16
+
<verse no='14'>And profited in the Jews' religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.</verse>
17
+
<verse no='15'>But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace,</verse>
18
+
<verse no='16'>To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:</verse>
19
+
<verse no='17'>Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus.</verse>
20
+
<verse no='18'>Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days.</verse>
21
+
<verse no='19'>But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord's brother.</verse>
22
+
<verse no='20'>Now the things which I write unto you, behold, before God, I lie not.</verse>
23
+
<verse no='21'>Afterwards I came into the regions of Syria and Cilicia;</verse>
24
+
<verse no='22'>And was unknown by face unto the churches of Judaea which were in Christ:</verse>
25
+
<verse no='23'>But they had heard only, That he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed.</verse>
26

<verse no='24'>And they glorified God in me.</verse>

<chapter no='2'>
29
+
<verse no='1'>Then fourteen years after I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and took Titus with me also.</verse>
30
+
<verse no='2'>And I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to them which were of reputation, lest by any means I should run, or had run, in vain.</verse>
31
+
<verse no='3'>But neither Titus, who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised:</verse>
32
+
<verse no='4'>And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:</verse>
33
+
<verse no='5'>To whom we gave place by subjection, no, not for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.</verse>
34
+
<verse no='6'>But of these who seemed to be somewhat, (whatsoever they were, it maketh no matter to me: God accepteth no man's person:) for they who seemed to be somewhat in conference added nothing to me:</verse>
35
+
<verse no='7'>But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter;</verse>
36
+
<verse no='8'>(For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:)</verse>
37
+
<verse no='9'>And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision.</verse>
38
+
<verse no='10'>Only they would that we should remember the poor; the same which I also was forward to do.</verse>
39
+
<verse no='11'>But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed.</verse>
40
+
<verse no='12'>For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision.</verse>
41
+
<verse no='13'>And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation.</verse>
42
+
<verse no='14'>But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews?</verse>
43
+
<verse no='15'>We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles,</verse>
44
+
<verse no='16'>Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.</verse>
45
+
<verse no='17'>But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid.</verse>
46
+
<verse no='18'>For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.</verse>
47
+
<verse no='19'>For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.</verse>
48
+
<verse no='20'>I am crucified with Christ: neverthless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.</verse>
49
+
<verse no='21'>I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.</verse>

<chapter no='3'>
52
+
<verse no='1'>O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?</verse>
53
+
<verse no='2'>This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?</verse>
54
+
<verse no='3'>Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?</verse>
55
+
<verse no='4'>Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain.</verse>
56
+
<verse no='5'>He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?</verse>
57
+
<verse no='6'>Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.</verse>
58
+
<verse no='7'>Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.</verse>
59
+
<verse no='8'>And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.</verse>
60
+
<verse no='9'>So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.</verse>
61
+
<verse no='10'>For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.</verse>
62
+
<verse no='11'>But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.</verse>
63
+
<verse no='12'>And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.</verse>
64
+
<verse no='13'>Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:</verse>
65
+
<verse no='14'>That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.</verse>
66
+
<verse no='15'>Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man's covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.</verse>
67
+
<verse no='16'>Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.</verse>
68
+
<verse no='17'>And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.</verse>
69
+
<verse no='18'>For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.</verse>
70
+
<verse no='19'>Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.</verse>
71
+
<verse no='20'>Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.</verse>
72
+
<verse no='21'>Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.</verse>
73
+
<verse no='22'>But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.</verse>
74
+
<verse no='23'>But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.</verse>
75
+
<verse no='24'>Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.</verse>
76
+
<verse no='25'>But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.</verse>
77
+
<verse no='26'>For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.</verse>
78
+
<verse no='27'>For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.</verse>
79
+
<verse no='28'>There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.</verse>
80
+
<verse no='29'>And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.</verse>
81

<chapter no='4'>
83
+
<verse no='1'>Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all;</verse>
84
+
<verse no='2'>But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father.</verse>
85
+
<verse no='3'>Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world:</verse>
86
+
<verse no='4'>But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,</verse>
87
+
<verse no='5'>To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.</verse>
88
+
<verse no='6'>And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.</verse>
89
+
<verse no='7'>Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.</verse>
90
+
<verse no='8'>Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods.</verse>
91
+
<verse no='9'>But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?</verse>
92
+
<verse no='10'>Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years.</verse>
93
+
<verse no='11'>I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain.</verse>
94
+
<verse no='12'>Brethren, I beseech you, be as I am; for I am as ye are: ye have not injured me at all.</verse>
95
+
<verse no='13'>Ye know how through infirmity of the flesh I preached the gospel unto you at the first.</verse>
96
+
<verse no='14'>And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus.</verse>
97
+
<verse no='15'>Where is then the blessedness ye spake of? for I bear you record, that, if it had been possible, ye would have plucked out your own eyes, and have given them to me.</verse>
98
+
<verse no='16'>Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?</verse>
99
+
<verse no='17'>They zealously affect you, but not well; yea, they would exclude you, that ye might affect them.</verse>
100
+
<verse no='18'>But it is good to be zealously affected always in a good thing, and not only when I am present with you.</verse>
101
+
<verse no='19'>My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,</verse>
102
+
<verse no='20'>I desire to be present with you now, and to change my voice; for I stand in doubt of you.</verse>
103
+
<verse no='21'>Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law?</verse>
104
+
<verse no='22'>For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman.</verse>
105
+
<verse no='23'>But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise.</verse>
106
+
<verse no='24'>Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar.</verse>
107
+
<verse no='25'>For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.</verse>
108
+
<verse no='26'>But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.</verse>
109
+
<verse no='27'>For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband.</verse>
110
+
<verse no='28'>Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.</verse>
111
+
<verse no='29'>But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now.</verse>
112
+
<verse no='30'>Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.</verse>
113
+
<verse no='31'>So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.</verse>
114

<chapter no='5'>
116
+
<verse no='1'>Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.</verse>
117
+
<verse no='2'>Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.</verse>
118
+
<verse no='3'>For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.</verse>
119
+
<verse no='4'>Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.</verse>
120
+
<verse no='5'>For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.</verse>
121
+
<verse no='6'>For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.</verse>
122
+
<verse no='7'>Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?</verse>
123
+
<verse no='8'>This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you.</verse>
124

<verse no='9'>A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.</verse>
125
+
<verse no='10'>I have confidence in you through the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise minded: but he that troubleth you shall bear his judgment, whosoever he be.</verse>
126

<verse no='11'>And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the offence of the cross ceased.</verse>
127

<verse no='12'>I would they were even cut off which trouble you.</verse>
128
+
<verse no='13'>For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.</verse>
129
+
<verse no='14'>For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.</verse>
130
+
<verse no='15'>But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.</verse>
131
+
<verse no='16'>This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.</verse>
132
+
<verse no='17'>For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.</verse>
133
+
<verse no='18'>But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.</verse>
134

<verse no='19'>Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,</verse>
135

<verse no='20'>Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,</verse>
136
+
<verse no='21'>Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.</verse>
137
+
<verse no='22'>But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,</verse>
138
+
<verse no='23'>Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.</verse>
139

<verse no='24'>And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.</verse>
140

<verse no='25'>If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.</verse>
141

<verse no='26'>Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.</verse>

<verse no='1'>Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.</verse>

<verse no='2'>Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.</verse>

<verse no='3'>For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.</verse>

<verse no='5'>For every man shall bear his own burden.</verse>

<verse no='6'>Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things.</verse>

<verse no='7'>Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.</verse>

<verse no='12'>As many as desire to make a fair shew in the flesh, they constrain you to be circumcised; only lest they should suffer persecution for the cross of Christ.</verse>

<verse no='13'>For neither they themselves who are circumcised keep the law; but desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh.</verse>
