+ # jquery-hotkeys-rails
2
+
3
+ jquery-hotkeys-rails wraps the [jquery-hotkeys][hk] JavaScript library in a rails engine for
4
+ simple use with the asset pipeline provided by rails 3.1. The gem includes the development
5
+ (non-minified) source for ease of exploration. The asset pipeline will minify in production.
6
+
7
+ ## Usage
8
+
9
+ Add this line to your application's Gemfile:
10
+
11
+ gem 'jquery-hotkeys-rails'
12
+
13
+ And then execute:
14
+
15
+ $ bundle
16
+
17
+ Add the following directive to your Javascript manifest file (application.js):
18
+
19
+ //= require jquery-hotkeys
20
+
21
+ ## Versioning
22
+
23
+ Ordinarily, I try to keep gem versions in line with the version of the assets they
24
+ wrap, but there are some complications with jquery-hotkeys.
25
+
26
+ There does not seem to be an official version for what is now widely-considered the
27
+ [canonical version of jquery-hotkeys][hk]. The last versioned release was 0.7.9.
28
+ I believe John Resig's fork applies some changes on top of that for compatibility with
29
+ newer versions of JQuery. I've decided to version the gem as 0.7.9 in case an official
30
+ 0.7.10 ever arises.
