# Jekyll::Writeinpublic [![Build Status](https://travis-ci.org/everypolitician/jekyll-writeinpublic.svg?branch=master)](https://travis-ci.org/everypolitician/jekyll-writeinpublic)
2
+
3
+
Link to WriteInPublic from Jekyll sites.
4
+
5
+
## Installation
6
+
7
+
Add this to your application's Gemfile:
8
+
9
+
```ruby
10
+
group :jekyll_plugins do
11
+
gem 'jekyll-writeinpublic'
12
+
end
13
+
```
14
+
15
+
And then execute:
16
+
17
+
$ bundle
18
+
19
+
Or install it yourself as and then manually add it to `_config.yml`:
20
+
21
+
$ gem install jekyll-writeinpublic
22
+
23
+
## Usage
24
+
25
+
First you'll need to configure the subdomain for your WriteInPublic instance in `_config.yml`:
26
+
27
+
```yaml
28
+
writeinpublic:
29
+
subdomain: kenya-politicians
30
+
```
31
+
32
+
Then whenever you want to link to a person's page on WriteInPublic you can use the following liquid tag block:
33
+
34
+
```liquid
35
+
{% writeinpublic_link person.id %}
36
+
37
+
Write to {{ person.name }} on WriteInPublic!
38
+
39
+
{% endwriteinpublic_link %}
40
+
```
41
+
42
+
Which will result in something like this:
43
+
44
+
```html
45
+
<a href="http://kenya-politicians.writeinpublic.com/en/write/who/?person_id=person/123abc">Write to Bob on WriteInPublic!</a>
46
+
```
47
+
48
+
## Development
49
+
50
+
After checking out the repo, run `bin/setup` to install dependencies. Then, run `rake test` to run the tests. You can also run `bin/console` for an interactive prompt that will allow you to experiment.
51
+
52
+
To install this gem onto your local machine, run `bundle exec rake install`. To release a new version, update the version number in `version.rb`, and then run `bundle exec rake release`, which will create a git tag for the version, push git commits and tags, and push the `.gem` file to [rubygems.org](https://rubygems.org).
