+ # MethodCallCount
2
+
3
+ This gem is a helper for Rspec or other testing frameworks, in particular in situations where you are using dependency injection, and you want to verify whether a certain input will result in that dependency being called. This will mixin a method into your class #times_called which is a hash that will be incremented each time a method is invoked on an object. This count is enabled on a class.
4
+
5
+ There is also separately a class, MethodCallCount::CallableStub, which can be aused as a stub for classes that implement #call with kwargs or an option hash to capture the kwargs that were sent.
6
+
7
+ ## Installation
8
+
9
+ Add this line to your application's Gemfile:
10
+
11
+ ```ruby
12
+ gem 'method_call_count'
13
+ ```
14
+
15
+ And then execute:
16
+
17
+ $ bundle
18
+
19
+ Or install it yourself as:
20
+
21
+ $ gem install method_call_count
22
+
23
+ ## Usage
24
+
25
+ For MethodCallCount
26
+
27
+ ```
28
+ class MyClass
29
+ def some_method
30
+ 'do_something'
31
+ end
32
+ end
33
+
34
+ MethodCallCount.enable(MyClass)
35
+
36
+ my_object = MyClass::new
37
+ my_object.some_method
38
+ my_object.times_called[:some_method] # returns 1
39
+ ```
40
+
41
+ For MethodCallCount::CallableStub
42
+
43
+ ```
44
+ my_stub = MethodCallCount::new
45
+ my_stub.call(arg: 'value')
46
+ my_stub.called_with[:arg] # returns 'value'
47
+ ```
48
+
49
+ ## Development
50
+
51
+ After checking out the repo, run `bin/setup` to install dependencies. Then, run `rake spec` to run the tests. You can also run `bin/console` for an interactive prompt that will allow you to experiment.
52
+
53
+ To install this gem onto your local machine, run `bundle exec rake install`. To release a new version, update the version number in `version.rb`, and then run `bundle exec rake release`, which will create a git tag for the version, push git commits and tags, and push the `.gem` file to [rubygems.org](https://rubygems.org).
