# Lita-Rubygems-Webhooks
2
+
3
+
Lita-Rubygems-Webhooks allows a Lita bot to register and receive webhooks from Rubygems, alerting a chat channel when new versions of gems are released
4
+
5
+
## Installation
6
+
7
+
Add this line to your application's Gemfile:
8
+
9
+
```ruby
10
+
gem 'lita-rubygems-webhooks'
11
+
```
12
+
13
+
And then execute:
14
+
15
+
$ bundle
16
+
17
+
Or install it yourself as:
18
+
19
+
$ gem install lita-rubygems-webhooks
20
+
21
+
## Webhooks Registration
22
+
23
+
The RubyGems platform requires that webhooks be registered via it's [API](http://guides.rubygems.org/rubygems-org-api/) so therefore the Lita handler has to register it's own webhooks upon startup. This plugin therefore requires API credentials in order to operate. The bot will _only_ register & deregister webhooks that are associated with it's domain/URL
24
+
25
+
## Configuration
26
+
27
+
### Required attributes
28
+
- `api_key` (`String`) - The RubyGems API key to register webhooks with RubyGems (see above)
29
+
- `domain` (`String`) - The domain/IP address of the Lita bot, used for registering itself with RubyGems. URLS will be created of the form `http://#{domain}/rubygems`
30
+
- `gems` (`Array<String>`) - A list of gems to watch for new pushes
31
+
- `alert_channel` (`String`) - The chat channel to send messages to when new versions are published
32
+
33
+
### Example
34
+
```
35
+
Lita.configure do |config|
36
+
config.handlers.rubygems_webhooks.api_key = "d34db33f"
37
+
config.handlers.rubygems_webhooks.domain = 'lita.example.com'
38
+
config.handlers.rubygems_webhooks.gems = ["rails"]
39
+
config.handlers.rubygems_webhooks.alert_channel = 'shell'
40
+
end
41
+
```
42
+
43
+
## Usage
44
+
45
+
1. Setup which gems and room you wish to register for RubyGems observations
46
+
2. The bot can respond with which gems it is watching with a direct message/command of `rubygems`
47
+
48
+
## Development
49
+
50
+
After checking out the repo, run `bin/setup` to install dependencies. Then, run `rake spec` to run the tests. You can also run `bin/console` for an interactive prompt that will allow you to experiment.
51
+
52
+
To install this gem onto your local machine, run `bundle exec rake install`.
53
+
