+# kobako-wasmtime
+
+**This gem is a placeholder. It contains no code, and requiring it raises.**

+Install [kobako](https://rubygems.org/gems/kobako) instead — it bundles the
+wasmtime driver today, so nothing here is missing from it.
+
+## Why the name is reserved
+
+[kobako](https://github.com/elct9620/kobako) runs untrusted mruby inside a Wasm
+sandbox. Its engine-neutral `Runtime` contract already exists: on the Rust side
+the wasmtime driver is an optional dependency, which makes the claim that the
+engine is replaceable a fact about the dependency graph. The Ruby gem is the one
+tier that still welds itself to wasmtime, because `ext/kobako` depends on the
+driver by path and the gemspec ships exactly that closure.
+
+Moving that seam — `kobako` becomes the pure-Ruby wrapper with the bundled guest,
+and a driver gem supplies `Kobako::Runtime` — is planned in
+[elct9620/kobako#76](https://github.com/elct9620/kobako/issues/76). That issue
+holds the design, the 14-method contract, and what is still open. This name is
+held so the split can ship under it rather than under a second-choice one.
