# Dpr
2
+
3
+
Dpr is the simplest Ruby Http client. It lets you do HTTP directly on URL strings. If a string can respond to_i and return the integer value of the string or 0 if it is not a integer, then it only makes sense to make it respond to http methods also.
4
+
5
+
## Installation
6
+
7
+
Add this line to your application's Gemfile:
8
+
9
+
```ruby
10
+
gem 'dpr'
11
+
```
12
+
13
+
## Usage
14
+
Here is a basic usage of dpr. Calling http_get on a url string returns the parsed response body(hash) and the response code.
15
+
16
+
```ruby
17
+
resp, code = 'http://api.openweathermap.org/data/2.5/weather?q=London'.http_get
18
+
```
19
+
20
+
If the string is not a url, dpr methods will return empty hash and -1.
21
+
22
+
```ruby
23
+
resp, code = 'dasd'.http_get
24
+
resp # {}
25
+
code # -1
26
+
```
27
+
28
+
### Headers and Parameters
29
+
30
+
```ruby
31
+
"http://httpbin.org/post".http_post
32
+
headers:{ "Accept" => "application/json" },
33
+
parameters:{ :age => 23, :foo => "bar" }
34
+
```
35
+
36
+
### Methods
37
+
38
+
Dpr supports all http methods.
39
+
40
+
```ruby
41
+
url_string.http_get
42
+
url_string.http_post
43
+
url_string.http_delete
44
+
url_string.http_put
45
+
url_string.http_patch
46
+
```
47
+
48
+
## Development
49
+
50
+
After checking out the repo, run `bin/setup` to install dependencies. Then, run `rake spec` to run the tests. You can also run `bin/console` for an interactive prompt that will allow you to experiment.
51
+
52
+
To install this gem onto your local machine, run `bundle exec rake install`. To release a new version, update the version number in `version.rb`, and then run `bundle exec rake release`, which will create a git tag for the version, push git commits and tags, and push the `.gem` file to [rubygems.org](https://rubygems.org).
53
